I found Jacob Geller recently, but he's been at it for years. I was circonspect at first, because video essays can be hit or miss for me for a variety of reasons. But the ones I watched from him so far were all extensively researched and supported by nuanced arguments. The topics he tackles are interesting and he even steps out of the realm of video games to talk about cinema or the (false) evolution of execution methods.

MinnMax is something I found through Jacob Geller I just mentioned. It's an independent media outlet, but also a group of friends? that produces the MinnMax show, which consists in a lot of interesting content, with the main dish being a sort of podcast where these folks discuss all things games related for hours. The convos, and people, are nice and the segments really enjoyable. The insider interviews and end-of-the-year discussions (notably the end of year the two tens/top 20 GOTY), in particular, are delightful.

I like Minnmax sometimes. They can be a little too snarky at times though
