awesome
What about going from playing a top down GTA to playing GTA: Vice City...then to GTAIV & V.
Sidebar: It's funny that this thread actually was perceived a little different than I wanted it to. But I'm still happy that you guys liked the thread.
I wanted you guys to give different things about some games that you would like to be implemented across the board...
Another example:
Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter
There is a game mode called Conflict that should be a staple in all future Tactical & FPS shooters going forward.
Basically, throughout the match, your squad goes against another squad in a series of missions ranging from "Protect the VIP" to Plant the Bomb to "Acquire & protect Intel" to "kill the other team".
It felt amazing because instead of engaging in the same objective throughout a long match, it would be a combination of things that forced you and your team to adjust. shyt was beautiful.
Imagine CoD or Destiny or BF4 where that mode was implemented?
when you talk about the creators...the developers and especially designers...they are just like us (for the most part). they want to see and create new mechanics and stories, and genres. publishers do a whole lot of filtering. then there are time constraints, budget constraints, a lot of laymen input and bureaucracy. theres this push to monetize games over time thanks to "facebook games". a lot of shyt stands in the way of innovation. a lot. one of my professors worked on kingdoms of amalur and he said basically developers put cool shyt in games all the time and the publisher will say leave it out (he wasnt talking about his game specifically). the attitude is typically make it exactly like that other game that sold 3 trillion copies
thats why when you read the destiny reviews, if you know the business you already know what it is. a store front disguised as a game. its a FTP game that costs $60
thats why AAA games have been going that way ("accessible") because they spend millions on them and basically want to recoup and profit off anyone who will spend money, not just gamers.
thats why indie is such a thing now because its a low-investment, low-risk refuge for those of that want new shyt.
that said, i havent played i am alive but shadow of the colossus has a stamina mechanic that gives a true sense of thrill and accomplishment
The creator of Bioshock has previously said that his new project aims to be a replayable narrative game, and cited Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor's Nemesis System (which had NPCs remember and react to your actions in it open world) as the sort of direction he'd like to take it in.
In an onstage interview at EGX Rezzed in London, Levine once again brought up the action-RPG as an inspiration, but added that his new game would take the idea of a reactive narrative much further:
"The game that inspired me most - that we were maybe onto something, on the right track - was Shadow of Mordor with the Nemesis System. [...] That was a very limited, rudimentary approach to it, that covers a very narrow area.
"Itβs more of a metanarrative, and thereβs not a lot of dialogue support for that stuff, so our thing is much more ambitious. That sort of gave us, like, βOK, maybe weβre not completely crazy in what weβre trying to do.'"
This been done already in Killzone 2's Warzone.

Why not?I'm a bit confused. Why is a 2014 thread pinned?
obvious reasonsWhy not?
I've always thought that Uncharted should of had some kind of system in place that incorporated the treasure you find along the way. Like if you have a pouch or a bag that he fills up and gets heavier as a mission goes on. Then you have to manage how to make it to the end of the level with your treasures in tact... there would have to be a good reward for completing the level with this, opposed to doing so without.I like the stamina idea. its always felt quite unrealistic the way Drake and Laura scale cliffs and the like...
Let OP cook, breh.I'm a bit confused. Why is a 2014 thread pinned?
