Too add to the thread some innovations that i'd like to see other games use.

The Drivatars from forza are game changing. In most racing games. The A.I. follows a line, they are easy and predictable. Which can lead to the game getting repetitive. In forza the A.I is the total opposite. They are aggressive, unpredictable and ultimately make the game more fun and exciting.

I'd like to see this technology picked up by sports and fighting titles. In those games once you figure out the A.I. It's pretty easy to win every match. If the A.I. could change, and use strategies that your friends would use. That would make playing single player in those games a lot more interesting.

I read the OP and would just like to say; TR was fun, but, the story was weak and so was Laras character development (innocent gals to psychopathic killer in a matter of minutes).

Let me guess you a TLOU stan :pacspit:

Think about sports game innovations...went from playing Jordan vs Bird to NBA2k15 and I'm not even 30. I remember when NBA2k came out on Dreamcast with it's new free throw mechanics and the ability to swat a shot by holding turbo... I felt like Marty Mcfly going from his skateboard to a hoverboard.

What about going from playing a top down GTA to playing GTA: Vice City...then to GTAIV & V.

Sidebar: It's funny that this thread actually was perceived a little different than I wanted it to. But I'm still happy that you guys liked the thread.

I wanted you guys to give different things about some games that you would like to be implemented across the board...

Another example:

Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter

There is a game mode called Conflict that should be a staple in all future Tactical & FPS shooters going forward.

Conflict: Objectives are random and placed on the map one at a time and are then to be captured or destroyed by the two opposing teams, and then held for the remaining time the objective is active,
GRFS_MP_saboteur01_1280.jpg

Basically, throughout the match, your squad goes against another squad in a series of missions ranging from "Protect the VIP" to Plant the Bomb to "Acquire & protect Intel" to "kill the other team".

It felt amazing because instead of engaging in the same objective throughout a long match, it would be a combination of things that forced you and your team to adjust. shyt was beautiful.

Imagine CoD or Destiny or BF4 where that mode was implemented?

I think more fighting games should incorporate co-op/team play a la SFXTK. Too bad Capcom shyt the bed with how they handled that game overall, as they had some pretty good ideas in there with that. A game like the Naruto Shippuden series, it'd be ill if they had the MVC tag team style mechanics, except that each player could be controlled by a real person. Also, that stamina gauge OP was talking about being used across other genres, I agree with that. It'd add a new twist to fighters with special moves/fireballs, etc. truly draining the user to do them, so they couldn't be spammed or that doing a multitude of moves unsuccessfully would tire you out (or even if successful to be a bit more realistic). And on the other side of that, getting devastated by such moves would show actual fatigue/damage to your fighter so that when you're getting closer to losing all your health, you actual movement and everything shows as such, lest you get away to recover a bit or something. I can see how this could slow down some fighters, but just saying, I think it could work out nonetheless.

Nope. Nver played. The story was wack, bro. I loves the gameplay, environment and voice acting, but she went from innocent English girl to Rambo, screaming at fools talmbout, I'm coming to kill you!

lol @ how they made it seem like you'd need to kill and eat animals to survive and did it twice.

lol @ them making the actual tomb raiding optional and off to the side.

And the combat is probably the best I've used (I kinda liked it better thatn Mike Payne 3s) in an adventure game.

This shouldn't have made this an origin stry becuz they obviously didn't have the patience to develop who she was. I'm def. checking for the sequel tho.

when you talk about the creators...the developers and especially designers...they are just like us (for the most part). they want to see and create new mechanics and stories, and genres. publishers do a whole lot of filtering. then there are time constraints, budget constraints, a lot of laymen input and bureaucracy. theres this push to monetize games over time thanks to "facebook games". a lot of shyt stands in the way of innovation. a lot. one of my professors worked on kingdoms of amalur and he said basically developers put cool shyt in games all the time and the publisher will say leave it out (he wasnt talking about his game specifically). the attitude is typically make it exactly like that other game that sold 3 trillion copies

thats why when you read the destiny reviews, if you know the business you already know what it is. a store front disguised as a game. its a FTP game that costs $60

thats why AAA games have been going that way ("accessible") because they spend millions on them and basically want to recoup and profit off anyone who will spend money, not just gamers.

thats why indie is such a thing now because its a low-investment, low-risk refuge for those of that want new shyt.

that said, i havent played i am alive but shadow of the colossus has a stamina mechanic that gives a true sense of thrill and accomplishment
