so the other day(Saturday) I go to trade in a couple game so I can get MLB the Show 13. I was just gonna pay whatever the difference was. So I went in the Gamestop a few miles from my house, the guy told me I could get $33 for both games, but if I put it towards a pre-owned game I got 50% more trade in value. I was like "cool". And I had a $10 gift card....so for a used MLB 13, I came out owing only .33 cents. Great right?

But they didn't have a pre-owned MLB 13. So I asked him to check the other store about 10 miles up the highway.....dude was like "Well Why not just get it from our warehouse?" I was like :manny: whatever. That's fine it'll only take a few days I figured.

Meanwhile for the next 10-15 mins while processing my order dude annoyingly kept trying to get me to sign up for a "Power Up" card or some sh*t like that. :rudy: I was like "thanks for the offer, but I'll pass.....I rarely buy games anymore" He kept on and on and on about how I'd somehow basically get the card for free or next to nothing.

Anyway, so I get an email Monday night saying my order has finally shipped and that it's scheduled to be here 4/12 (this Friday)....I looked at the tracking today, and it's been switched over to Post Office delivery and now the delivery date has been pushed back to 4/15 :what: .....mind you their warehouse/corporate office is in Grapevine, which is only 30 minutes from my house.....and it's gonna take THAT long. :mindblown:

The store I wanted him to check initially has the game there used. I shoulda just went there to begin with. I woulda had my game that day when I wanted it. SMH

Also he told me there was no online pass for the game, but when I got back home I saw that there was. :snoop: So now I'm gonna have to buy that too. I still saved money, but I'd rather have had the game that day and paid a little more for a new version

That's your own dumb ass fault, you should have checked if they had a used copy before making the trade in.

Or you should have done the trade but bought a .99 cent used game (Madden 07 or something) and put the rest on store credit on your card and then used that money to buy the new copy.

Your own fault there homeboy

I try to give a local gamestore Digital Press most of my business. I pay a few bucks more but they're a dying breed and I don't mind supporting them. They have been my go to spot for almost a decade. Plus the retro stuff they have are reasonably priced, plus they have like modern SNES controllers and all sorts of shyt. They have every system down to Colecovision I spend most of my disposable income there :sadcam: :madwife:

If you ever come to north Jersey it's worth a visit, one of the best game stores in the US, no lie.
sounds like power gamer here in bmore. unopened launch dreamcasts, all the old handhelds, even failed consoles, figurines n shyt
they get imports and all that, never once had to import online

plus they do repairs

The people that used to work at my local gamestop were a$$holes. Back in 08 I went in to buy two used games for my xbox 360 which I had just gotten a month ago(Dec 2007) and the guy told me about that membership card that saves you money on used games but I was like nah I'm good :whoa: but the fakkit kept insisting and I was like son I don't want it :stopitslime: nikka was like Kobe Bryant at that Colorado hotel, no matter how many times you said no, he kept going in :mjpls: He's like ok I was just trying to save you money but it seems you don't care. I walked out like :rudy:

I stopped going in there since at that time a mom and pop video game store had opened up so I continue to go there although they have new people at gamestop and they are friendly.

Basically, it's a gunfight with them dudes, but just be ready.

I got the look a few times when they knew I was getting over on them.

"Get an extra 50% when you trade in for used game"

I proceed to trade $50 worth of games for a used copy of Madden 07, get $75 in credit, purchase an .89 cents copy of Madden 07, get 74.11 put on my card.

I don't really mind PowerUp Rewards, to be honest :yeshrug:

I rarely buy used from GameStop, but sometimes they're good for the sub-$10 titles that aren't really worth buying on eBay.

Plus, I grew up on gaming mags, so the Game Informer subscription is worth it alone, for me...

...although I do take some of their reviews with a grain of salt.

But yeah, fukk trading anything in to them  eBay (for older stuff) or Craigslist (for newer games) all the way.

Going into Gamestop feels so alien to me. I think I may walk into Gamestop June 14th to buy The last of Us and that's about it.

You can get some pretty low prices on used stuff if you know how to play them.

If you buy many games here is how to do it if you buy used.

Plastic Jungle - 9% off on giftcards
Gamestop Membership - 10% off I think
Cheapassgamer or codes from retailmenot - 15-16% off
SAVER code for free shipping from the website
eBates if you want to go through the hassle for an additional 2% off

and hit them when they are running those B2G1 deals...Can get games dirt cheap with all those methods combined. It really pays off if you buy many games per year.

I NEVER go there for new games tho unless they have a huge deal going on.
i always use the retailmenot website and order from them online. i end up leavin w/ like 10-12 games for 60 bucks. its even better when they got the 2 for 1 goin or free shipping. @ dumb asses for spending 60 dollars on one brand new game. no wonder they look so fukkin broke all the time.:steviej:
