Nah it's not a weird take. If you don't play nothing but 2-3 games a year you aren't a "gamer" per se. I don't consider dudes who only hop on CoD and maybe Madden to be gamers.

You might play basketball when you go to the gym for a game or 2 every other week but you aren't a real hooper in my eyes. It's the same thing here to me.

But if these guys play it at a high level how are they not gamers? The comparison you made makes no sense. These guys this thread is about play their respective game daily for hours at a time.
To add to this thread, I'm not surprised at any of this. Lot of people in the fgc seemed suspect and when the stuff about gllty came out I figured it was only a matter of time.

breh, it’s a 100% certainty. My oldest who’s only 8 and doesn’t play online besides the occasional fortnite when I’m in the room with him, and he has no mic.

I literally had to delete a couple friend requests that were obvious attempts to start some shyt .

There’s no excuse for anyone born past 1980 to not be at least somewhat aware of the “gaming” culture, including YouTube, at this point. It’s irresponsible.

The optics don’t even look right, all these grown ass people with major money behind them hosting tournaments...especially anime themed ones.

That’s true. I only said probably because some kids do only play with their friends. It’s the ones playing with strangers that’s a problem.

I’m a female and 31, but since i’ve been gaming seriously for about 13 years, i’ve always get friend requests from young kids. Some are cool and i used to play fortnite with a group of kids like 14 years old a couple years ago when i first started playing the game, i met them in random squads, they thought i was cool cause i’m a female and older so i used that influence to help them be aware of and warn them of who they play with cause there are a lot of sexual abusers in the gaming community. 2 of nephews are all their age and play fortnite too so i was protective in that sense. the gaming community is a mixed bag of ages and older people need to use our voice to protect and help the young kids who don’t know and are living in youthful naiveness and don’t see and know the world and ways in which people are and can be evil.

I forgot that I gave my 10 yr old nephew a phone for Christmas (he’s on my plan)... I figured my family was monitoring his phone and fortnite play....

I went and looked at his phone usage and he was sending texts to some number in Las Vegas and on the phone for hours playing fortnite with someone who my family says “sounds young” but clearly is not one of his classmates or family members because the number is an out of state number... I don’t know what I should do... I am going to talk to my nephew and family but this corona and being stuck in the house makes it hard to keep tabs on him online.

I make it a point to not really introduce kids to the internet and the anonymous people of the internet because that rabbit hole can go anywhere. I'm 25 and even tho I'm considered young by most people, the internet was not the way it is now when I was growing up. I was on forums since like 12-13 but it was an overall "safer" place.

I bought my lil cousins a PS4 but with no PS+, just strictly offline. My niece has a switch but no nintendo online. I try to stay away from tablets because they can do youtube on those and youtube has a bad community in of itself. Once they get to about late middle school/high school age then that's when they should graduate to phones and computers.

You don't want them to not know how to use phones/computers at all because it's a valuable skill in life, but you don't wanna start them on that path too early. They'll discover the deep internet and the deep internet will raise them in it's own mysterious way.

i know nikkas in their 30's get fukked up over a chick leaving them and etc. now imagine a fukking 14 year old being gassed up by a 24 year old. he was in love with her and she bounced on him but kept fukking with his head afterwards. now imagine having to see the bytch daily hugged up on her fiance while you playing the game you good at, at 14. its a reason there is laws against this shyt.... I know my family tries to balance his time but I don’t think they monitor him while he’s using it... He has a laptop because school is online... the kid is an awesome kid and smart as a whip so it seems like punishing him to not have any of these things... but this thread is making me truly understand that it’s not because of my nephew... it’s because of the predators...

You can’t give predators access... kids are defenseless to the mental manipulation of these sick adults... all it takes is one sicko to destroy a kid...
