They had this fighting game that was like Mortal Kombat.

Neo Geo was 2nd.

I think maybe the 32x

I ended up getting everything I wanted, or my best friends would have the other stuff I didnt...

Wanted a Colecovision and Atari 5200. Ended up with the Atari 2600.

But I did get a Sega Genesis for Christmas

I remember going to electronics boutique in the mall and seein that Neo Geo box wayyyy up on top of the shelf with the $799 price tag

Fatal Fury, Metal Slug, Samurai Showdown only $199 each

SNK overpriced that system like crazy.

And the games?

I never owned a Super Nintendo

I never owned Nintendo or Super Nintendo. I remember for like 7 Christmas's staight I would run down only to be disappointed by not getting a Nintendo. Out of all my friends and cousins I was the only one not to have either of these systems. One of the worst parts of my childhood was being left out of owning a Nintendo. I used to go to school and every kid was reading Nintendo Power, talking about new games, cheat codes and game strategies and I used to be heartbroken. My older brothers had Commodore 64 before me and my moms always complained that they never did their homework, they just played games so she didnt want to buy me Nintendo. My first system was Sega Genesis.

Good thing though since everybody had it I was still pretty much playing it everyday. Occasionally some of my friends would even let me borrow theirs.

When it came to game systems I pretty much got what I wanted either for Christmas/Birthday. One thing I DIDN'T get while I was young though was a Game Gear. I wanted that thing so bad I brought one with my own money years later when they weren't even popular anymore from Funcoland for like $25 dollars JUST to live out that childhood dream....

i used to have one for a couple of months when my friend let me borrow it, i was glad he didnt show up after that for quite some time

but i could never buy one and i dont know if i should now, considering you can dowload some of the games on the current consoles
