How do you guys feel about the characterization of characters outside of Rhae, Alicent, Viserys, Daemon, and Otto - all of whom have had ample scenes? Talking to my mom she had no idea who the guy who picked up Rhae during the feast was. Harwin Strong, ie the guard who caught her when she was walking through the city (but didn't snitch), and who is also the Hand's son.

I'm just curious what non-book readers think about that because as a reader I feel like they're fukking up establishing the side characters. Even Laenor barely had any scenes before marrying Rhae.

I thought it was a random guard that picked her up until i came in this thread, it happened so fast.

Then after reading this thread multiple posters said thats her future side piece. One even said the baby might be his.

Just a hunch they have, right :troll: we not real game of throne fans :troll: we should watch Power or Snowfall cause we cant decipher in a 2 second scene that a guard picks up Rhae becomes her future love :troll: we are too stupid to see that from the moment he picked her up and disappeared from the scene that she had googly eyes for him :troll:

But hey apparently these arent spoilers and maybe they’re referring to some dialogue between the hound and sansa in season 4 episode 7 at the 23:52 mark of the episode :troll:

My guy, you have been terrible about picking up what's happening in the show, so we're not wrong about that, but you are %100 right about this. Ain't no way anyone picked up all that just from the preview for the next episode.

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
First off. Team Cole. Breh wasn’t having a second of that blackmail bullshyt.

Second, I realize why this doesn’t seem all the way live to me. It’s so many plot points rehashed from GOT. That entire run away with me speech was the same shyt from Tyrion and the whore. Exactly the same.

Soon as daemon popped up I thought of Sir Bron saying his wife’s sis could have an accident on her horse.

The entire “do what you do and I’ll do what I do” was the Margery speech to the sissy borathian. It’s all the same

And that’s minor for this ep but every ep is a call back. Every single episode some mirrored plot point or even exact speed is given. Like is this guy just milking the same shyt and that’s why he can’t finish? Were the books got copies too?

Absolutely disgusting the simpery cole is on right now. Seems a little out of character.
Unlike Jaime, actual kings guard supposed to have some sort of honor and code. Who the hell else would vow celibacy just to guard a king till they die?

It’s very in character. He’s not gonna be the side bytch listening to his queen getting her back blown out while he guards the door. This ain’t that

I get your point, but a lot of shyt repeats itself because these same issues are always there when it comes to these blood based monarchies.

A lot of it is based on real history. There have been multiple lords/royals who ran off with commoners for the sake of love, both in real life and in the ASOIAF lore. Lots of women dying in childbirth, lots of people being secretly murdered so their heir could take their land and titles. Gay lords/royals who lived secret double lives with sham marriages. b*stards being fathered and legitimized, war over who should be heir, tyrant lords/kings, weak ineffectual lords/kings, etc. This is real shyt that echoes itself over and over again all throughout ASOIAF lore and real history. It's all just a backdrop to tell the major stories around.

I can understand that now. I took it as, history repeats and also check out these sexy cool call backs to the old show.

I figured they’d do it a few times and be done. Cole getting busy at the dinner was my first real “oh shyt I didn’t expect that” type of shyt

You're right in the sense that he was writing ASOIAF, and the history and lore of Westeros was just backstory created to flesh it out.
In the OG series there was a lot of "this is happening now, just like it happened back then with the dragon queen/northern lord/Dornish prince/etc. So we are just seeing one of those "just like that one time" historical backstories being played out. He only fully fleshed out the full lore when the books became popular.
