it was obvious they rushed GOT to move on to other things, mainly Star Wars
Yeah they suddenly wanted to do Star Wars in 2018 as if it's not possible they haven't been eyeing that project before
GOT ending seasons were rushed

This is from the President of HBO in June 2015:

“David and Dan are feeling there’s probably two more years after Season 6, that’s what we’re looking at right now."

‘Game Of Thrones’ Will Likely End After 8 Seasons, HBO Says – Deadline

This is from Weiss back in 2012, before Season 2 even aired.

"Weiss: We went into this with the potentially over-ambitious notion that to get to the end we would have 70 or 80 hours of continuous, consistent film stories."

'Game of Thrones' showrunners talk season 2

They said consistently from the beginning of GoT that 7 or 8 seasons and 70-80 hours was their vision for the show. It is perfectly fine if you want to think that was a bad creative choice but the idea that they suddenly decided to end the show to switch off to Star Wars or some other project just isn't true.

Even if that's true...
the last seasons were rushed pieces of garbage because they were ready to move on :umad:
If they still gave a fukk about GOT instead of having their minds in the future we wouldn't have gotten the garbage we got

They could have easily extended seasons if they cared that much but they couldn't wait to move on

nikka are D&D paying you?

The did a poor job with seasons 7&8 point blank. But given when seven was filmed relative to the SWs announcement, it was still a decent enough season. But eight? :trash: HBO even said they'll throw however much money was needed to properly wrap the series. They were clearly mentally checked out. It's not rocket science that the show's quality dropped after in was announced they would be at the helm of a new SW project.

Nobody is paying me you weirdo. I just don't respond to a show or film being disappointing by coming up with conspiracy theories about the writers/directors. I think it is strange that lots of people on the internet seem to do that now. This goes well beyond Game of Thrones.

Martin Scorsese is one of my favourite directors. The pilot for Vinyl that he directed was absolutely awful. That sucks but I don't start coming up with fantasies about how he was mentally checked out or didn't care while making it. That's art, it happens.
