This is the one thing that made me look at the trailer sideways. Notice the book says 300 years but the trailer said 200. I don’t remember any of the casting news but I hope this is starting off with Aegon and his sisters coming to Westeros and not 100 years later.
-edit- meant Aegon, not Aerys.

This will start with the Dance Of Dragons, the Targaryen civil war. So it's set over 100 years AFTER Aegon's Conquest, and almost 200 years BEFORE the events that at the beginning of Game Of Thrones.

There were rumblings that the show will kind of be a miniseries that jumps throughout Targaryen history so we may still get Aegon's Conquest at some point.
