First off, season 7 of game of thrones is the best yet and one of the greatest seasons for any tv show

Ive read books 1-5 more than 2x each, the books are ridiciously good but the show itself is a beast of its own. I learned to seperate the two years ago so i can enjoy both peacefully in their respective medium

Just so you guys know, the last major events that happened in the last book A Dance of Dragons (2011) was Jon snow being killed by the nights watch, the iron fleet arriving at Mereen, Arya getting her first faceless man kill, bran meeting the 3 eye raven, sansa still at the vale, and a revived catelyn stark leading the brotherhood without banners and murking freys and lannisters left and right....i got years without reading them but i think im pretty accurate about that. But yea the show BEEN past all these points and is now reaching the same destination as the author but just taking different routes

Connington and the Golden Company have landed in Storm's end...Dany nowhere near Westeros..Lannisters in the book are just about finished they have no chances of retaining the throne at all.

Haven't read the books but the posts here are spot on about the show dipping a bit after Season 5. The biggest issue IMO is the increased pacing; this is one of those shows that's better when it takes its time to build up the characters and the world but lately they've rushed alot of stories.

The Books by far

But to be fair it not a fair comparison. Generally books have way more detail and can flesh things out more

I will say this. Generally I am disappointed when a book I have read gets made into a movie or a series. The movie I have in my head is always vastly better than what is shown on the screen.

Ready Player One.
The Dark Tower.

Etc

Game of Thrones is inferior to the books of course but it’s great on its own right.
