Alex Smith is considered a game manager while Aaron Rodgers can be considered a gunslinger. So give me the latter all day everyday. With the pure thrower you know he can win you some games and maybe even a title or two if everything falls right. If you have a game manager you may go to the playoffs like the Chiefs but you may be sitting at home like the Jets too.

Without the results being known, give me a guy who will take a couple risk to go for it all over a guy who checks down on 3rd and ten.

I DESPISE game managers. cuz they are simply in there not to lose or make mistakes. to me that's a bytchmade approach to the game. I want a QB that can actually get me a win in the 4th.

Alex Smith is too physically limited.

Russell Wilson is a better example of a Game Manager with good physical tools.

russ wasn't even close to a game manager this year. he sent franchise records in EVERY QB'ing category for the seahawks this year. game managers don't have 110 QB ratings and pass for over 30 TD's with 4000+ yards.

Well considering the OP already said the game manager is on a perennial SB contender and the gunslinger is on a perennial .500 team, then of course I'd rather take the game manager scenario. You already told me the results :heh:

But if I didn't know the results ahead of time, or anything else about the team around them, and my only options were a gunslinger who didn't like checkdowns and a game manager who rarely took risks, then give me the gunslinger. As a fan, when you have a QB who is a playmaker, you always feel like you are in the game.

Game managers are great when you dominate the trenches on both sides, but if you get down early, that's a bad place to be.
Ok let's take the results out of it. Do you want a game manager you can build a great team around or a gun slinger who will be the sole focus of your team and the team dies or live by his performance :francis:

As a fan, I'd rather watch a gunslinger who's not afraid to force throws, takes big hits, and makes big plays. That's why romo is my favorite qb right now, I got love for:upsetfavre:too

Unless the gunslinger in question is Matt Stafford, as a fan that's what I'm going with

For those SB titles played mistake free Football and made plays when they had too but the thing is all those QBs weren't vets yet (Except for Elway) and are all HOF QBs ... Alex Smith isn't any of those QBs

Well since I don't own a team personally or pay for season tickets, it doesnt affect my pockets whatsoever. And since I dont act like I'm actually a part of an organization like nikkas do, all I care about is who is the more entertaining player to watch. :yeshrug:
