normally i hate origin stories, but gambit is not a household name. he will need to be introduced.
also, some article was claiming channing has some cajun roots and that he can do the accent, LOL. i hope so.

yeah the ladies love him, I really enjoyed the jumpstreet movies, but those are such a different movie you can not go by it, as far as how he will be gambit. Heard he was great in fox catcher, Ill have to check that one out. The big thing is the accent I think, many people dont think he can pull it off. I gotta say, his casting def has me very intrigued in this movie.

on this one, personally.
Cyclops, Storm, Nightcrawler, Rogue, and Magneto are more deserving of a solo movie than Gambit either way.

Honestly, if Marvel ever gets the rights back, they should just make X-men a live action TV series instead of a film series. There's no way they could cover that many dope storylines (Proteus, Dark Phoenix, Brood Saga, God Loves Man Kills, Mutant Massacre, etc) in a movie series without leaving a ton of stuff out.
if FOX can deliver with this new Gambit movie though.
