It’s not just that. It’s the fact that he writes, produces, and directs as well. Literally EVERY facet of the show comes from him. The judges and committees who usually vote on the Awards circuit love
auteurs. It’s why Anziz Ansari gets a lot of love for Master Of None when it could be argued he’s not the most interesting character on the show. It’s because the other characters were created and written BY him.

Aziz is constantly rejecting his own culture in favor of the white way and white women, which is a big negative for me and a reason why I feel it got so popular so fast.
This is a big reason why insecure and atlanta are better is that they fully embrace their culture and show how it effects each aspect of their life directly or indirectly, good and bad
. And in the midst of that insecure in particular still comes across relatable to all demographics with those realistic relationships and professional life
