That's the only part I didn't like. The insinuation that materialism isn't as big in white society.

I took it more as materialism when it comes to clothing isn’t as big.

Best believe that little Todd who wears the same shirt twice in a week is eventually getting into some fancy prep school on his way becoming an investment banker while Earn and Al are trapped in the hood just trying to make sure their clothes aren’t coming apart by the thread...

Damn that’s crazy, shyt was over and gt started in Japan by then, Idk what upn is tho what channel was that?

UPN merged with WB and thats why now we have the CW.

How old are you?

Not trying to clown or anything but you don’t remember Wayans Bros, Half & Half, One On One, Girlfriends, Malcolm and Eddie? Those were all the BLACK shows that were either on WB or UPN that got cancelled when they merged

They weren't the same shirt. Earn's was missing the patch and some stripes I believe. One was definitely a "fake" one.
Am I tweakin', but I do not remember FUBU jerseys having that patch on them. I remember people rocking them all the time, but I don't recall that patch at all.

:comeon: I have never seen anyone clowned by an entire school for an entire day for a fake shirt. The premise itself was dumb; two kids have the same shirt so one has to be fake? Never saw that before in my life.

There is nothing wrong with looking presentable and getting fly, so I wouldn’t call the mind set embarrassing. And we are far from the only culture who acts that way.

Beyond that, the white kid saying “oh I had this on a few times this week and no one cared” is another underhanded slight to black folks. Along with another slight to black women acting like they’re materialistic, as if any middle school girl has any real depth to them or know what they like.

The past few episodes really shows me Donald Glover kind of hates being black :manny:

Naw it’s more like “tough love”. Spike lee had been doing it in his films for decades.

Black Filmmakers gotta be accountable to give some sort of positive message to the black community because it’s enough other stuff out there on tv and movie and social media promoting the negative.

And it makes you think and talk about it afterwards

I understand Donald Glover probably grew up poor and nerdy so likely got bullied and made fun of so that’s why he made episodes like last night

And it might be his own personal agenda coming out in Atlanta but in the bigger picture it’s about love not hate for black people.

Plus it’s his show so he can do whatever he wants :manny:

We all got the message. Being “fresh” or having the newest trendiest clothing is still a big deal in school. My nephew used to get bullied for same thing.

It’s crazy nowadays you gotta have a new $200 Jordan every month and a designer belt or glasses some distressed jeans and Gucci flip flops just to keep up at like 16yrs old :wow:

Not to mention a fresh haircut every week:hubie:

AND now you get roasted in person and on social media :noah:

The 1st time I saw DBZ was in 96 on UPN (Ocean Dub)

Then after it stopped airing on there Toonami picked it up

Yeah, in my area it was on Fox Kids at 6AM every Saturday morning. They used to show 2 episodes a week. Every time it got to when Goku would get to Namek it always restarted, crushing the soul of the young me :leostare:
