@Ziggiy So you seen it too, breh? Our boy Donald really going out of his way to justify (his) interracial relationships in this episode.
Black woman is angry while the white woman is a "good catch" and "just adds value" and "loves him for him"
That guilt must be pure torment on some folks minds
I'm pretty sure some folks in here are gonna say we're bugging...but that's all it is
Nah we ain’t bugging. I wasn’t feeling that shyt.
The issue is, I felt like they TRIED to make it more balanced when the black chick went off saying that the white woman had “opportunities” that she didn’t have. She, as a black woman, doesn’t have the benefit of watching a black man “grow” into his own because she’s busy trying to survive her damn self in a world that treats her, in many instances, even WORSE than that of a black man.
The problem is that they had her embody the “angry black woman” stereotype while she expressed her viewpoint. Which pissed away the entire message, because everyone will be harping on the “loud, neck rolling, angry” part instead of reading between the lines.
It’s especially heinous considering that the show’s writers have gone to great pains in season one to poke fun at, and ultimately dismiss that stereotype. Van called Earn out on that shyt wayyyyyy back in season one (episode 3 Go For Broke)
It could’ve been done MUCH better and as a fan of both Donald Glover and the series, it was dissapointing that they decided to go that route.
Ima rate the episode a 7/10. My lowest rating for an episode.
