After 11 weeks of release, Furious 7 has topped the firstAvengers movie at the worldwide box office. With the latest international box office grosses, Furious 7 has now reached $1.520 billion at the worldwide box office, surpassing the $1.518 billion total of the first Avengersfilm.

In passing the Avengers, Furious 7 reaches the number three position on the all-time worldwide box office list, while the Avengers falls to the number four spot. By dropping to the fourth position, the Avengers is now right next to its sequel Avengers: Age of Ultron, which holds the number five spot with $1.368 billion.

How long Furious 7 will be able to hold onto the number three spot remains to be seen, as Jurassic World is currently setting the box office on fire. Star Wars: The Force Awakens also opens later this year, and many expect the film to pass the $2 billion mark.

That's crazy. I still don't get how the movie did so well but more power to them.
Ive said it like ten times already but fukk it....

A whole generation grew up on these movies and geniunely love the characters. Each film has gotten bigger then the last. Theyve successfully combined the appeal of action movies with a racially diverse cast that has worldwide appeal. They film around the world that gives the movies a nice break from the repeated back drops of new york repeatedly.

As for this particular movie, this is the first one they released in 3D which raises the box office. China has exploded and added $350 million more on this one then ff6 raked in. And of course paul walkers death with one of the classiest send offs for a character and actor I've ever seen in any film. They literally couldnt have handled it any better.

Few things. One, as someone mentioned already we grew up with Dom and Brian and the rest of the team. We can quote the entire first movie. Second, the movies aren't kiddie. Also, whoever had the idea to turn these into racing/oceans 11 type heist films starting with Fast Five is a genius.

Lastly and maybe the most important part of the success. .the cast is diverse. They are proving that you don't need an all white cast to pass a billion. People want to pay to watch a diverse cast.
