Rule is fire. Straight bars about what was going on in the world that a lot of people weren't paying attention until being against the government became a trend after 9/11

Every ghetto was fire from Nas last verse:

Watching kids freeze in winter
How could I tease em with benzes
and feel no remorse...

Braveheart party...:francis: OK you got me there :russ:
Rule also was Amerie's debut :lawd:

Still remember going to Circuit City Dec. 18th, copping Iron Flag and Stillmatic with Every Ghetto, No Ideas Original and Everybody's Crazy as bonuses. It was a good time man, a good time to be a hip-hop fan.

I remember (I think it was Slay) was in the studio a while back, and flex was trying to make it seem like the battle was close (made for better radio if its close) and it was 50/50 with callers picking Jay and Nas, and Slay lost it ( might not be Slay but i remember it was an outspoken respected DJ so slay comes to mind) and he went crazy like legit on Flex saying its bullshyt, damn near 80% of the callers were saying Nas but they were taking a Jay call..then Nas,,,, Jay call then Nas..

But we all know who won.. Jay even knows who won
:ahh:

Word and honestly I think it was like 90% of votes were all to Nas. Hot 97 was doing anything they could to say Jay won. You can hear the utter shock in Angie's voice when u hear her read the results. Those idiots (hot 97 and jiggaman) expected him to win easily and had jiggaman in the studio when they announced the results. You hear Angie sounding like her dog just died when she said Nas won. Hot 97 was getting so much payola for play in those days.

I got the original thing on tape the day it went down and Jay was getting slaughtered on the votes like 85-90% vs 10-15% in favor of Nas and Angie Martinez and them was trying to fudge it to make it look closer and then Fat Joe who was in the studio as it was going down put them on blast for it:lolbron:

Hey man up that if you can!

Dude that's crazy...I was back in Cincinnati for the holidays that year. Went straight to circuit city and copped Iron Flag and Stillmatic same day, no BS.

I was always real patient when listening to albums in those days, like I didn't like to purchase multiple albums at once cuz I wanted to give each individual album a chance to marinade and see how I really felt about it before moving on to the next one.

I actually busted out Iron Flag at first and loved that shyt. It was steady on my rotation for several days before I finally was ready to start feasting on Stillmatic:blessed:

Nas and Jay-z . I will never be able to choose.

But the Takeover was the better record by far. I never understood how nas could win that one...ether is overrated imo.

The Stillmatic freestyle tho... :takedat:
