I remember the exact moments when I first heard both Takeover and Ether. The whole battle was surreal and this was the real Talk of NY.

Looking back now, what Nas said in these interviews with Funk Flex, was actually rougher than what was said on Ether.

Yo I saw my barber the day after the takeover summer jam and he was like :krs: jay went at prodigy and nas! He was mad excited tryna explain everything that happened without knowing all the lyrics. Dude witnessed history :wow:

But I was at the concert when jay and nas linked up on stage for the first time after their beef:jawalrus:

I remember (I think it was Slay) was in the studio a while back, and flex was trying to make it seem like the battle was close (made for better radio if its close) and it was 50/50 with callers picking Jay and Nas, and Slay lost it ( might not be Slay but i remember it was an outspoken respected DJ so slay comes to mind) and he went crazy like legit on Flex saying its bullshyt, damn near 80% of the callers were saying Nas but they were taking a Jay call..then Nas,,,, Jay call then Nas..

But we all know who won.. Jay even knows who won

How can you new generation niqqas listen to this and not feel that you've been robbed? You will never have these radio moments...everybody too b!tchmade these days to even step up. On top of that dudes these days ain't even making good enough music to warrant this type of event. Every rapper now just wants to sound like the flavor of the month to sell a couple of records. :snoop:

I got the original thing on tape the day it went down and Jay was getting slaughtered on the votes like 85-90% vs 10-15% in favor of Nas and Angie Martinez and them was trying to fudge it to make it look closer and then Fat Joe who was in the studio as it was going down put them on blast for it:lolbron:

Kayslay was the DJ mainly riding for Nas because at that time, Hot 97 rode Jayz and Roc hard. Angie and Flex were Jigga stans:mjlol:

Yea the album is dope and I agree Nas was like a sleeping giant who was awoken but...

Braveheart Party :scust:

Rule :ld:

My Country :patrice:

Not really into Every Ghetto either...

My country shytted on me...
She wanna get riiiid of me
Cause of things Ive seen
Cause of things Ive seen....:wow:

Rule is fire. Straight bars about what was going on in the world that a lot of people weren't paying attention until being against the government became a trend after 9/11

Every ghetto was fire from Nas last verse:

Watching kids freeze in winter
How could I tease em with benzes
and feel no remorse...

Braveheart party...:francis: OK you got me there :russ:
