There's not much of a difference between a guy like Poeltl and a geriatric Dwight Howard, besides a $78 mil contract and you know what

The move would only make some sense if we're contenders and he was the last missing piece. Draft value wise most centers are usually found outside the top 10. Plus, those centers are on rookie contracts, so you do have flexibility. Out of the centers below I don't think anybody is taking Poeltl over him or paying much more than them,

Zubac (late 2nd)
Robert WIlliams (27th overall)
Walker Kessler (22nd overall)
Mitchell Robinson (2nd round)
Nic Claxton (2nd round)

Again, how could Poeltl be worth a top 6 protected pick when you can easily find somebody in the draft as a late lottery pick to 2nd round. Value wise it just doesn't make sense to give up that much for Poeltl when center is a position where you can draft outside of lottery or pick up one to fill in as a free agent

The difference is Scottie is at least an all-star level player imo while the Wizards have guys that most teams don't want. As bad as we are we can still accumulate picks by moving on from OG and Pascal. The major issue is we could've gotten a lot more and should be doing what Portland is currently doing stockpiling picks and rebuilding.

SInce our pick is top 6 protected we just need to bottom out and tank for the next 2 season and hope we land a star in the top 6
