If you tip under 10% you a bum and should probably stay home. 15% is the acceptable amount and 20% for good service.
Does anyone know why most restaurants pay servers/bartenders below minimum wage?
nah, blame the company for not paying the more per hour
It's crazy reading the experiences of Europeans that travel to the US and eat at a restaurant here...they say that the service is like night and day, that they feel like royalty when they get waited on. Here's an example:This works out well for most people and the consumers. You should go to France where tipping is not allowed and watch how lazy and damn near hostile the staff is with the customers.
The waiters in France have the same attitude as the women at the DMV.
You guys are overlooking one very crucial detail when it comes to tipping in restaurants Europe vs USA. Ever since my first visit to the US about 3 years ago I decided I will never ever tip again in a European restaurant. Sure, deciding what tip to give can be a hassle, but I quickly noticed how much these people were working for their tip. Every restaurant I went to I was surprised by the amount of effort spent to give me refills on time, to make sure I had everything I needed, etc.
USA:
- Can I get some mayo? "Sure! I'll go get some right away!" *brings me a bowl of mayo*
- Hmmm. I'm thirsty, maybe I should order some mo.. "Sir, I saw you were finished with your drink, can I get you another?" *brings me a huge class of ice cold coke*
Europe:
- Can I get some mayo? "Sure! That'll be 1 extra!" *brings me a cup of mayo the size of a postage stamp*
- Can I get another drink? "Sure! That'll be another 2.50" *brings me a 0.2L (or 6.76 fl.oz) bottle of coke*
I only experienced USA tipping during my 3 vacations over there, but it sure seemed like they put a LOT more effort in satisfying customers so I was actually happy to tip for good service. I'll never EVER tip in Europe again with the shyt they charge you with.
You do know waiters etc can easily be paid minimum wage but instead they choose to get paid lower and use tips to "top them up" for sympathy
Sorry not over here
I'll go and have a 50 dollar steak and not pay a cent on tips
Some of yall saying don't tip make me laugh.
Type to be acting like ballers, but really some "Scumbag Steve" motherfukkers.
I dont understand how so many of you nikkas had waiters get attitudes with yall when yall dont tip. Yall must be lookin like carlton banks or some shyt.
I NEVER had a waiter get outta line with me
