Actually, this is literally a page taken out of the Jay-Z playbook.

Jay-Z took the hook for I Just Wanna Love U (Give It To Me) from Omillio when he was squatting in one of those "Philly" recording sessions. He put the stars in his eyes and gave him a video look and a handshake, but didn't break off a percentage of a huge single since he didn't have his publishing setup.

This kid shoulda learned from Omillio, set up a shell publishing with ASCAP, BMI, or SESAC first, then go to the studio session, get sampled, deliver the hook, and get his points. If you don't have rights to your art, your gonna get juxed in the industry,

It's tricky. The hook is from the Rick James song "Give It To Me Baby" so not sure how much songwriting credit he could have negotiated in his position. Plus, you don't NEED a publishing company. You can register with ASCAP/BMI/SESAC as yourself. Seems like he still doesn't realize that. :francis: He's actually on the record, so I don't know if he got a point on the album or what. I'm guessing zip zero...stingy with deniro :troll: It's a cold game. Curious to know if they paid Rick James and them. I bet none of those OVO tent writers have ever heard of a split sheet. It's hard out there when you have zero leverage so you can't fault them all the way i suppose.

Put yourself in his situation, you are completely unknown and one of the biggest rappers in the game, who moves in a street kind of way with Dame and Biggs being the operating managers, samples a line you stole. This is after he gave your mediocre ass a 1 million dollar budget (assuming this, cause that's what Peedi Crack says he got and blew before he recorded his album and Jay/Dame were cheap for not giving him more).

You are probably not thinking about trying to charge Jay, no matter if you had a JD. Now the latter would not apply to the following, dude probably signed away his publishing far before that. Could you receive money if someone else completely owns you?

There's more than one reason these artists shark mainly "hood nikkas". :sas2:

I really don't think hood nikkas are exclusive with regards to that.
Back then people were getting signed and given big advances without having done shyt. Dudes could really get signed over a nice freestyle, now you need a hit, mixtape, shows and all that.

Now days, hood nikkas are usually the cats that build their rep first and then sign (unless they sign to Gucci first :mjlol:). Popstars that are no one and 6 months later all over the world, are probably getting fukked too. Some people won by signing these type of deals like Peedi, he's not generated profits excess of what he received. And others took L's like The Lox.

Because Meek fired the 1st shot, then got Funk Flex in the mix who pump faked on dropping the reference tracks.
drake capitalized on Meeks mistakes....

honestly impulse and bad timing fukked Meek up on this...him being on tour REALLY messed him up imo

Yeah that was Meek's downfall. He didn't go in with a plan, while Drake obviously had Charged Up ready to go the minute someone dissed him.

I wonder if people kept asking him about a RICO video or said Drake's verse was better and it just set him off.
