Why does everything regress the longer society continues?

Music has regressed.

Cartoons have regressed

How do you look at the original drawing of Toucan Sam with all of the shading and depth and think that soulless new thing is better?

Society is going backwards.

Nothing else matters as long as the money progresses. :mjlit:

But it makes me wonder why all these redesigns and reboots and revivals aren't as good as the originals. I remember watching Zoom when I was a kid and I had no idea it was a reboot until years later. People remember 90s Zoom more than 70s Zoom. But they're not going to remember the new All That over the original All That. :hhh:

With over decades of starring in his own commercials, Froot Loops‘ Toucan Sam has become an icon in TV history amongst other cereal mascots. Despite being merely a cereal mascot, he’s had a pretty recognizable design that anyone would be able to spot from a supermarket aisle away… until now.

Froot Loops took to social media to announce a rebrand of their beloved mascot, and let’s just say, things aren’t going as planned—The Internet hates it. Almost every comment on the announcement post either makes fun of the new design or begs the brand to bring back the old Toucan Sam we all knew and loved.

Instead of creating a slightly different version of the classic mascot, Toucan Sam has taken on a completely different appearance with a 2D design, trippy color combinations, an oversized eye and a mouth that doesn’t quite fit right. As one comment put it, “Who designed this, a 12-year-old who just learned about the rainbow gradient and smudge tool? Hell no, I hate it.”

Along with the redesign, Froot Loops also announced the Froot Loops World. Notably, the new TV spot below features a cereal box with the former rendition of Toucan Sam. Does this mean that a packaging redesign will be next? …or does it mean that they launched this redesign way too early? We have so many questions.

Paramount faced a similar issue a few months ago when the movie trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog was released. The trailer caused near-universal criticism as the Internet felt that Paramount completely ruined the design of Sonic. The backlash resulted in the movie being pushed back giving Paramount time to correct their mistakes and release an updated version of the mascot.

Let’s hope Froot Loops does the same.
