Yep. Cartoons peaked in the 90s. Strangely I think the peak of music was late 60s, 70s - at least rnb.

But cartoons reached a peak in the 90s

Adults was watching cartoons like crazy in the 90s. My dad and my friends parents were legit interested in our cartoons back then. Used to trip me out to walk in and our parents would be watching our cartoons when we weren't around.

My friends and I used to get a kick out of that
I grew up on 90s cartoons but them shyts overrated

The early 2000s had better cartoons

always offended culture killed the radio star

Im more worried about the next generation. The detailed animated proportional looking characters you saw in Batman: TAS is now a lost art. It been replaced by South Park looking characters and crappy storylines.

CalArts is short for The California Institute of The Arts. That art school produces a lot of the talent behind american animation, whether it's TV or Disney/Pixar. Walt Disney practically co founded the school as good artists and animators were becoming hard to find and train and his animators were getting old with no one to replace them.

TV animation, globally, is very cheap. animation budgets are very limited, studios copy successful things and designs. The "calarts" style is the current trend in american cartoons probably popularized by very popular shows like Adventure Time, Gumball and more recently, Steven Universe. Basically:

Personally, I don't watch a lot of american cartoons and I'm not a particular fan of the current "calarts" style of designs but it's funny when people call things "calarts shyt" when in some cases, there are no calarts alumni involved.

This is why I come back to the Coli, brother.

Very insightful post. Thanks!
