Vegeta's flaws made him such a dynamic character, basically a spoiled trust fund kid with access to the best training and from an elite bloodline, but can't surpass a lowly Saiyan who hit his head and became retard.

he is the heir to an entire planet of a proud race of hunters and conquerors. A more powerful army and being comes in, strong arms his dad, and makes his entire planet and race indentured slaves [start imagining this is earth and you're like...obama's son].
your slaver realizes you're a threat and while you're off planet he destroys your entire fukking race and planet, and tells you it wasn't him. You know the deal. But you have to work for him.
You conquer and enslave and destroy planets for him, killing and enslaving literally billions.
You get to a target planet and after the THIRD REMAINING MEMBER OF YOUR RACE is murked, you find out theres another on some hillbilly planet
you go there and tell him his entire race history and he's like nah i like this planet more. You fight him and LOSE.
then you fight your enslaver and get destroyed beyond reason. BTW you were the most powerful person in the history of your race at this point.
then you become a good guy and fight for the planet because thats all you have at this point
then you get murked out by a bug.
then you admit...the lowly saiyan brother is stronger than you...and you surrender to an evil being to make you more powerful
and you finally beat your fellow sayian in battle
and get absolutely destroyed by the new threat to the planet

Even this isn't an accurate depiction of Vegeta's character.
Goku never walked around people stronger than him and wanted them to be above him still. Vegeta had the best training available to him but he still had greater threats near him and above that he was nowhere close to.
He was happy to boast a meaningless title with someone weaker than him by his side. Attacking planets that Bardock and friends could handle. He wasn't doing any work and wasn't trying to train to beat Frieza, wishing his way to immortality to have a shot at Frieza
Goku wanted to fight Kami, Piccolo no matter the odds. His willingness to be taught so he can become stronger was always his greatest asset.
Vegeta is lucky he has hair, otherwise we'd see just how big his head is. He's too arrogant. Even his goal of surpassing Goku is short sighted.
He hit that shyt, Bulma too wild and loose everyone done seen her goodies. And if Goku wouldn't have been half a retard he probably would have hit it too. She been came on to him multiple times after he hit his growth spurt at 15.

Yeah, now that I think about it, I gotta rewatch Dragon Ball. It's been a while so my memory was lacking on a few things.

This is facts. I mean the Goku black saga was good insight to accepting Gohan as he is; a happy family man. Gohan is still a great character, I'm speaking selfishly to be honest. Like I wish Gohan had a few of Future Gohan attributes or fully realized his potential so we wouldn't always have Goku/Vegeta show but it makes sense, even as a child he didn't want to fight.
