Why would he? Trauma and environment influences a person and their motivations. He had a base of power and no one else was around so he had no choice but to keep ten toes on the ground. But due to that he never had someone develop his skills to where he was as a pre-teen in the present timeline.

Gohan is one of the better character studies in battle manga.

Lol Goku is basically anime Jesus, he was too perfect.

Vegeta's flaws made him such a dynamic character, basically a spoiled trust fund kid with access to the best training and from an elite bloodline, but can't surpass a lowly Saiyan who hit his head and became retarded.

So he hates so hard that it becomes motivation for him to be great
