Check the episode of Rogan with him and Randall Park. That's what sold me on the show and on Eddie. He has his own podcast called Monsodium Glutumate, as well.

He played that perfectly. To the point where it made me sad my parents never gave me the same reaction. That filthy music has made me a writer and they never once gave me the props/disgust he gave Eddie.

I know that pain, breh. I was in the exact same boat until the Fall of 07. shyt changes when you hand them a magazine article with your byline on it. Stay strong :to:

:russ: No disrespect breh, but is that why some of you guys are so good in school?

A good chunk of us aren't the "geniuses" other races make us out to be. While most kids were watching Saturday morning cartoons, we were up in the morning taking extra math classes, Mandarin classes, english classes, science classes, and whatnot. It's simply a matter of asian kids getting forced to put in the extra work by their parents, which is why so many of us did well in the "trouble" subjects back in the day.

Parents instill the importance of useful education at a very early age, unlike cac parents who tell their kids they can do whatever they wanna do.

Only watched the first ep, but it actually wasn't so bad, despite Huang's essay on him feeling like he sold out. Was expecting a lot worse. :ehh:

Randall getting emasculated like that tho kinda pisses me off.

Oh it's all good..My dad thinks I'm a genius but he'd never attribute it to hip hop and my moms passed but she thought I was a genius just never ever once said it was because of hip hop. They think everything I've done is either due to them or something else but there's no way it could ever be because of that filthy trashy music. I cornered my pops about it a couple years ago when he wanted to defame the whole music because it calls women out of their names (something I don't agree with either) so I called his hypocrisy: he listens to Jazz..loves it. But how many jazz musicians were drug abusers or died from drug abuse or committed domestic abuse? So you're saying hitting a woman is OK but calling her a bytch isn't? Homie stammered and backed out quickly. I told him if we're going to say a whole genre gets a bad rap because of that, then jazz is full of drug users who love heroin and beating up their girlfriends and wives

So is this show actually funny or are ya'll just gassed off the soundtrack :patrice:

Empire has taken up my bad show quota brehs

It's funny. Pilot episode and 2nd episode both had a good amount of laughs, good insight, and clearly has a point of view and its own voice

I like that fish outa water perspective the show has
I grew up my whole life in the city (and Jamaica my first 4-5 years of life) I get a kick outa this kid Eddie and how his lil world is flipped upside down coming from DC to a place like Orlando
it makes me think about kids coming from China Town and into the S.Bronx and how crazy that must be for them
like in that first episode how it wasnt just the whiteboys who shyt on him the one lone black kid in the lunch room dogged him out too
like "damn, Im fukked either way."
I be wanting shows like this to last cause theyre now showing in more detail "IMO" the lives of minorities in the US without being too corny about the shyt
