Look at the situation now. Simple supply and demand. You give everyone the opportunity to get a degree, it evens the playing field and the value of the degree drops
It used to be able for you to get an English, Philosophy, or Sociology Bachelor's degree. Now those degrees are the same level as a High school diploma

A masters degree used to be coveted as an easy ticket to a high paying job. Now they are a dime a dozen because everyone is getting one. If everyone is getting the same degree as you, what advantage do you really have?

Why do you think STEM degrees are still lauded as high value? Because everyone isn't good at Math, Biology, Physics, etc. Even if the government tries to push everyone to STEM, it still wont lose its value because there's an intellectual barrier. Scarcity equals value

I guess for me that equals the playing field so that one class isn't able to get these degrees easier than another. Call me socialist or communist but I don't see this as bad.

Then why aren't people stopping their education at 8th grade then?

Cause deep down they know they will not gain an advantage in life. You lower the barrier of entry, you lower the value of the education you are attaining. If you want a Masters Degree to soon have the same value as a High school diploma, then hey go ahead

Allowing young educated adults to enter their professional life debt free is not in the best interest of a lot of companies. They rely on these people NEEDING to work certain jobs in order to pay down their massave debts. Being debt free allows people to be more professionally flexible and take more risks like leaving jobs that don’t pay enough thus driving up wages in order to keep an actual work force. Which drives down profits, stock price, etc.

And how is this a bad thing? Wages have been stagnant for years while living costs continue to rise
