anyone else think Frank Oceans lyrics are too abstract, like he's trying too hard. Some songs don't even make sense with out some deep analysis/interpretation. I feel like his older stuff was just as good and straight to the point

nothing on NU was straight to the point but lonny breaux collection was.

I feel like this has always been his style. Its abstract, but you can more or less always make out what he's talking about.

I thought Earl's verse sounded like that on purpose because he was supposed to be some drugged out apathetic super rich kid. But he was just being lazy .

This album tho :wow:.

Heard a few songs. Anybody saying the album is trash is probably someone who is:
a) a conservative religious fundamentalist
b) someone who doesn't like homosexuals someone who is a closeted homosexual
c) someone who is disappointed that Frank Ocean has a sexual orientation different than theirs
d) someone who needs a hearing aid

Fixed.

Thought I read that somewhere recently. Must have been someone else.

Nas Serves Christmas Dinner To Families Affected By HIV/AIDS - Music, Celebrity, Artist News | MTV.com

"The thing about AIDS is you start to raise your eyebrow at how it affects certain communities. [The] homosexual community [and] African-American community was really the first [to report cases of HIV infection], right, so, kinda, those two communities got blamed for it — even almost like they invented it. That's not the truth. So it's affected everybody now, every community. It makes you want to learn about it," he said.

Not exactly a cosign or anything, but he doesn't seem prejudiced. Can't believe Frank lost the feature though. :snoop:

right. I like songs like, Bricks and steel, acura integra gurl, cant be the last time....etc

even on NU there was "songs for women" and "novacane" which were straight to the point and everyone liked them. Then theres whip appeal which is great song and not even on the album probably because its too "normal".

I think he could've been less abstract or "pretentious" with his lyrics and people would still like his new stuff. But people seem to like it anyway cause its different.:ohhh:
