It's #1 in UK, US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Sweden, Denmark, Finland & Norway, and 6th in spain ; and im sure more people will buy the disc anyway
iTunes/digital purchases account for very little of an overall gross. He could have sold 10k in the first 12 hours to get him to #1, but that doesnt measure how well he will do next to albums in stores. he could be #1 digital, but be #10 on top 200 with 23k sold.
all things considered, 100k within 2 months is very very generous prediction and im being honest...not many people know this dude outside of the internet, gay issue or not. releasing this a week early can only be considered an advantage/acknowledgement of this.
Listened to the album from start to finish and its a solid piece of work....nothing mind blowing but it's nicely put together. I do see myself bumping songs on here often tho...

Now I can't speak for anywhere outside of California and Vegas because thats where I spend all my time but everyone knows who he is out here. After that media coverage of him 'coming out' I think its safe to say A LOT of people know who he is.
People put things out early on Itunes because you don't have to press anything and it is the #1 retailer in the country by leaps and bounds.

No he's not the greatest vocalist, neither was Michael Cooper of Con Funk Shun. Now tell me when you listen to "Love Train" is that not a great vocal performance. He realizes he's not a great vocalist which is why stays within in his range, short burst of falsetto's nothing on the level of Phil Bailey(of Earth Wind & Fire), Low levels of Tenor that doesn't rise above his in studio performance, this is why for the most part it translate to his live performance. Listen to his Jimmy Fallon performance of Bad Religion and then listen to the album version.
Bilal can actually sing. In fact, way better then Frank Ocean. There was a song where Oceans like PLEASAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA, PLEASAAAAAAAAAAAAA. I was paying attention to something else but all of a sudden i noticed my face went like
