Trump likely wont be found guilty, meaning he will still be able to run. And he will be able to say “they want to arrest me so the establishment can pick DeSantis.”

Sure that would be the smart thing but are republicans on the ground embracing it? No. And does DeSantis have the chops or balls to take down Trump? No. DeSantis just got some meh reviews during his recent stop in Iowa. Every time people outside of Florida get a loot at this guy they see an uncharismatic, sweaty, fat, awkward reactionary. He doesn't have the swag of Trump and the type of resentment he focuses on doesn't truly drive white racist republicans. The obsession over trannies may be popular with a certain group of republicans, but most of them are focused on the types of racial and gender and academic grievances that Trump focuses on.

Trump out here talking about building new cities while DeSantis yells about chicks with dikks. I don't see this ending well for him and I'm not even sure he beats Trump in a Florida primary either.
