As it pertains to the state of Connecticut there's truth in that. House slaves were often treated somewhat like family. Now if this was South Carolina it would be pure
:duck:

This.

However, the book does downplay slavery as whole in areas other than Connecticut. But shyt slaves in Connecticut may have been treated waaaay better than slaves down south. Family member might be a stretch but id imagine its like a butler/maid thing. You treat em well but you still work for me :umad:

This ain't nothing new.

American History books have omitted several truths. You grow up thinking Native Americans were savages who scalped you. You grow up reading that slavery happened, it was bad, but then it ended. You grow up thinking America is the greatest.

You grow up thinking that everyone has an opportunity to succeed, and if you don't, it's because you didn't work hard enough.

They don't want us to be educated. They don't want us to know the truth.

It aint the greatest country?

Move to North Korea then say it. Or Mexico where the cartel runs the country, or canada with they weak ass military :camby:

Think out what you're saying breh.

SLAVES were treated like FAMILY.

And my whole point is that doesn't mean it was good. Slavery in Connecticut was way different than in the south which is why it was one of the first states to abolish it. The northeast was industrializing so their economy didn't depend on slavery like the south did. Also there weren't big ass plantations so often people only owned one or two slaves if any. If you make enough money to only buy one car you gonna keep up that car and take a lot of pride in it. If you have money to blow and own multiple vehicles you prolly wont be so anal about the maintenance. But of course each owner is different.

At least the book acknowledges that slaves were kidnapped unlike in Texas where slaves are called immigrants

This is the typical ignorant response you get from people when you critique the United States.

"You don't like it? Move to a different country!"

Same ignorant response close minded people say to the BLM movement and Kaepernick after his protest.

Or I got an alternative..... stand up for what you believe is right instead of being passive and allowing the country to be unjust.
