411MANIA | Former Makeup Artist Calls Out WWE For Gender Pay Gap

Former makeup artist Stella Kae has called out WWE for pay inequality between genders. Kay, who previously did makeup for WWE and has also done makeup work for shows like America’s Next Top Model, The Apprentice, Braxton Family Values, and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, posted to twitter asking if WWE will ever address equal pay for women. She noted, “They risk their lives and bodies just the same to make SUBSTANTIALLY less than male talent.”

She continued on to talk about the highest-paid male and female athletes and addressed a point from a fan stating that women shouldn’t have equal pay because they don’t earn equal pay-per-view buys for the company.

Now I don't fully agree with her but there are definitely women on the roster selling more merch than lower card guys and some midcarders. Example, all of the women are getting paid less than those 205 Live guys, then they need to get better agents.

Any here's those tweets in question:

the thing is, they're independent contractors, so they could always negotiate for more but the other problem is Vince is the only major show in town. Can't threaten to go elsewhere where the pay is even worse which is why wrestlers need to form a union, but all that shyt is the furthest thing from their minds.

I'd get rid of the women before I'd pay them male salaries. They could all go and there wouldn't be much of an impact. They are booked so inconsistently that they will never become indispensable. The women's division is the step-child during the best of times and this era is pretty fukking bad so there's no chance the division will ever be elevated enough to justify equivalent pay. Maybe it's by design, who knows? But this isn't an office environment where such a huge wage gap is anything to be concerned about. In those corporate situations, on paper, the men and women are doing the exact same job and carry the same workload. We know that's not true in WWE.

Equal pay tho? Equal? :comeon:

Yeah, no woman ever, I dont care prime Trish to Charlotte combined are drawing the crowds of a Hogan, Austin, or Cena.

Close the gap, yes. Give them more merch if they're being slighted.

But WWE is a biz, the women, at least traditionally, are not the main attraction.

and who the hell is making $12 mil a year now?

I don't think you can compare top male and female talent like that, since top talent would include people like Cena and Orton, who are obviously going to be making wayyyyy more than everyone else, male or female. Guarantee that 12m figure comes from them.

Now if Sasha Banks is making less than, say, Kallisto, then yeah. That's pretty fukked.

One can easily make the point that the men draw more... and that's a perfectly valid point when we're talking about those on the upper card.

But if it's some shyt lets say someone like.... Baron Corbin making more than Sasha Banks then there's a problem. People will pay to see Sasha... I ain't never heard nobody in life say "wow, is Baron Corbin going to be there?!?! :ohlawd:" :russ:

Couple things. They've done main events on RAW, I remember one in particular was a Sasha vs. Charlotte match and it did over 3 million viewers. The average 3rd hour for most weeks is somewhere between 2.5 million and 2.8 million.

So I cannot say that the women don't draw. I'm pretty sure Sasha and the Bellas and a couple others also sell plenty of merch, much more than a lot of dudes.

Also, this woman Stella is good friends with Sasha and Summer Rae.

This is not going to be good for Sasha if this gains traction because you know that's where Stella is getting the info from :snoop:
