There isn’t a crisis and conservatives are pushing a false narrative to support their racist, white supremacist, fear driven agenda.

Thank you, OP. A lot of bigots got exposed in this thread.

How is there not a crisis. Can you back this up with numbers ??

They always ignore this when asked or say something like, "we can work on this after black people aren't losing jobs to illegals. "

Good luck:mjgrin:

Low skilled jobs , steady income , potentially gives better access for kids to education in the future , which then turns into kids having better professional jobs.

I think 1 + 1 = 2. Poor whites stay poor, they don't have something secret access that propels them to different classes either

This flies in the face of evidence. And the reality of the black experience.

Indeed, black and American Indian children born into upper- or upper-middle-class families are nearly as likely to fall to the bottom fifth of the income distribution as to stay in the top fifth.

Conversely, upward mobility for children born into the bottom fifth of the distribution is markedly higher among whites than among black or American Indian children. Among children who grew up in the bottom fifth of the distribution, 10.6 percent of whites make it into the top fifth of household incomes themselves, as do 25.5 percent of Asian-Americans. By contrast, only 7.1 percent of Hispanic children born in the bottom fifth make it to the top fifth, along with 3.3 percent of American Indian children and a tiny 2.5 percent of black children.

Black men enjoy much less mobility than white men, but the gap between black and white women is small
This is perhaps the most striking, and certainly the most controversial, finding of the study. Black Americans’ disadvantage on mobility relative to whites, the researchers conclude, is entirely driven by a disadvantage between black and white men

I think the President and DHS lying to the public is a crisis. Falling illegal immigration numbers don’t support the immigration crisis narrative. Pretty clear cut. There was a guy a few days ago on here saying 500k are immigrating here a year without evidence and I’m not sure if that could be considered a crisis. Our population remains stable and that’s what is important.

The report here already posted in hl shows that there are around 300-400k each year for the last few years coming over just from the southern border. Add that to all the ppl over staying visas and other means of entry and there are way to many illegal immigrants coming in.

But you guys don’t care about that or the ppl affected. You only care about the politics of it.

Not quite sure this answers the education question, I know there's a discrepancy between races but I believe education alleviates and supercedes the %s you mentioned and obviously 2 income household as well. Youre posting data and stats which is accounting for the same issue we are trying to address.

There shouldn't be any illegals coming across though, 500k is a pretty big hole when you're expecting 0. If a bank had 325m and 500k disappeared they wouldn't just turn a blind eye to it

After reading this story, I’m convinced Trump trolled America on this immigration issue. I knew he was trolling, but I actually thought he was actually against illeagal immigration. Boy did I fall for the con.

Let me explain. Trump is in the hospitality industry. It’s probably one of the more illegal immigrant dependent industries in the country. If Trump and Republicans wanted to end illegal immigration, they would push for legislation demanding E-Verify for all businesses. But this would actually be effective in eliminating a key labor pool which business owners in Trump’s industry are dependent. There is no way Trump would harm his industry like that. There is no way his peers— like the Aldersons Marriotts, Hiltons of the world, would sign off on mandatory E-Verify legislation.

It’s clear Trump and country club GOP donors only instigated this immigration fight in order to create a social issue that they can use to galvanize their base. But in actuality they have no real intention of ending illegal immigration. They just needed a new group to vilify like they did with black people and welfare in the 80s and 90s and Muslims with terrorism in the 2000s.

This whole crisis is fugazi. The citizens are at each other’s throats over an ineffective wall, but no debate on a tool that actually works.

What happened to E-Verify -- the government's popular way to curb illegal immigration?

All of us fell for this ruse.

Illegal immigration is here to stay, but it will continue to be used as a wedge issue. It’s the new abortion debate....it will be brought up to inflame passions on both sides, but it’s more or less a settled debate.

It’s actually quite clever. Galvanize the base to elect Republicans who are pro business, but offer solutions that won’t disrupt the flow of immigrant labor.

Every paycheck I give $50 to a charity I'm passionate about.

It's not a large sum but, it's enough not to break the bank and I do my little bit to help.

Now if they randomly started charging my card by $500.00 a month, we'd have a problem.

That's illegal immigration. We can accept SOME people to come here out of the goodness of our heart. Crazies want us to accept EVERYONE. If you had a fridge full of food and a house full of kids, and your neighbor came over asking to borrow some til next week. You gonna share because that's what's right. But, you not gonna give her everything out of your fridge because you got kids that gotta eat too. What's so hard to understand about that? These pro-immigration dweebs don't understand boundaries. In their minds, saying there has to be a limit = no one can come ever. We have to let in the entire populations of every country on Earth or they're not satisfied.
