They aren't mutually exclusive. You can't have one without the other. The only way they'll be somewhat effective - is in small doses, a la they have to be your complimentary pieces. Problem is you can't use them any other way because the way your team is designed and the percentage of the cap spent - they'll always be your #1/#2 guys by default (for the immediate future).

Somebody needs to off Dumars.

Yeah they are!

Shooting the ball from 3 when noone is under the rim to rebound is poor shot selection

shooting the ball when there is 20 seconds remaining on the clock.

shooting the ball over a defender when You have an open man to pass it to...

It's not the # of shots that they are taking, it is the quality of shots.

And how much they are paid doesn't determine how much they will play. CV and BG were once the highest paid on the team. They also seen more of the bench than lesser payed players during their tenure. Smith was benched during much of The game vs. the GSWs. Vs. the kings Smith clearly showed what Dumars had in mind, at least with Smith. He can fill a stat sheet. and doesn't have to score efficiently for the team to win. I'm beginning to like the odds of BJ improving as well. With the credits that Westbrooke gives to Mo. and what Chris Paul has said about Chauncey lets me know that it's just a matter of time before BJ's game is broken down and improved.

:wow:

make irrational judgements on players abilities, team cohesiveness and the mental status of individual players concerning their involvement in the offense and their thoughts on free agency based on 5 games of looking at box scores, brehs

Debby Wong-US PRESSWIRE

Jerry Stackhouse spent five seasons with the Pistons from 1998-2002.

Former Piston Jerry Stackhouse is joining old teammate Mateen Cleaves at FOX Sports Detroit [via Freep]:

"After 18 years in the NBA, I’m excited about this new phase of my career," Stackhouse said in a released statement. "My five seasons in Detroit were a great period of growth for me personally and professionally. It’s terrific to come back to the Motor City and join the Fox Sports Detroit team."

Stackhouse starts on Sunday's 'Pistons Live' at 9 p.m. before the Pistons tip off against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Stack's best season in the NBA was the first year after Grant Hill in 2000-2001 when he averaged nearly 30 points (on 24 shots and 10 free throws!) per game. Second only to he who shall not be named. It was admittedly a nice coping mechanism to losing Hill, but the losing stung.

Stackhouse would take more than 600 (!) fewer shots and thus, regress horribly the next year, as new coach Rick Carlisle came in and turned the Pistons into more than just a one-man show. The team was flipped around, from 32-50 to 50-32. The Pistons drafted Tayshaun Prince in June 2002 and signed Chauncey Billups in July, and Stackhouse was shipped out a couple months later, bringing in return the beginning of the Richard Hamilton era.

Stackhouse was not missed.

He's back now, though, almost 10 years later, and he'll get to talk to viewers about Joe Dumars' shoot-happy free-agent acquisitions.
