In terms of legacy he's on James Buddah Edwards status to me. He's right between Terry Mills, and SCorliss Williamson on my 'favorite pistons ever' list.
T-Mills my dude, tho. Saw him at a liquor store in Romulus was like "3-Mills!" :gladbron: Bruh was chililn with the brown bag like "What's up, homie?"

:lawd:
He still helped ya win in the 80s and in 04 :mjpls:
Those memories floating further and further away, breh. When I see him, I wanna throw hands, not stan.

The Detroit Pistons had their shot at Michigan point guard Trey Burke and didn't take it.

If it doesn't work out, Joe Dumars' No. 8 overall selection of Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, the Georgia shooting guard, one spot ahead of Burke, is something the Pistons' president of basketball operations will hear about for as long as his tenure lasts.

"Trey is an excellent player, somebody that I know extremely well and am very close to," Dumars said. "But we have specific needs that we had to fill and the draft really doesn't come down to a popularity contest, it comes down to teams trying to fill their needs. So that's what we did tonight. That's the decision we made tonight, that we were going to fill our needs.

"We understood that if Trey was on the board, this would be a question that was asked. But I've had a lot of conversations with Trey, long before the draft, about this night and what could possibly happen -- and about this scenario."

Burke was still available when the Pistons picked.

He slid one more spot, to the Minnesota Timberwolves at No. 9, then was traded to the Utah Jazz for the No. 14 and No. 21 overall picks.

There was ample speculation that Burke would be available to the Pistons but little indication that the team intended to take him.

Dumars said the Pistons' need for a wing with size and athleticism overrode any consideration of drafting any point guard once the Phoenix Suns took center Alex Len at No. 5 overall.

At that point, Dumars said he knew New Orleans would take Nerlens Noel at No. 6 and that one of the top two shooting guards in the draft, Ben McLemore or Caldwell-Pope, would be the Pistons' pick.

McLemore was taken No. 7 by Sacramento, setting up the scenario many local basketball fans coveted.

Then, the Pistons passed on Burke.

"If it was that much of an issue for me then I would've just made the popular selection and walked out here and everybody would have said, 'OK, you drafted Trey Burke,'" Dumars said. "But that's not what you do."

Dumars said that in discussing the possibility of this decision as the draft progressed, he was reminded of when Indiana Pacers general manager Donnie Walsh drafted Reggie Miller ahead of Indiana University favorite Steve Alford in 1987.

But that was significantly different in that Miller went No. 11 overall while Alford was selected 15 spots later.

"You don't just sit there and make the most popular pick, because that's a 24-hour rush," Dumars said. "After that, you've still got to put your roster together. You've still got to put your team together."

Middleton started lookin like a player last year once he got healthy and pt.

Joe gives him away and keeps singler
shyt made no damn sense. Tired of this nikka finding some solid gems in the 2nd rd only to give them away to some other team to start flossing with them. Meanwhile Joe giving other trash like Jerebko extensions. You know who would be a great shooter and wing defender on this team? Aaron Afflalo. And we gave him up to sign Chris Wilcox.

Is it safe to say that hardaway jr>>>kcp
Timmy's playing better than I thought he would in the pros. I wasn't sure about him. He's definitely been better than KCP. I also agree that Smith is pretty good when he's playing the 4 exclusively and in the paint. The combo of him and Drummond at the 4/5 is great defensively too. They'll just need a coach that will make sure Smith keeps his ass in the paint and fine him every time he drifts beyond 15 feet from the hoop.

Trading Monroe because you signed Smith is basically Dumars final fukk you to Piston fans, no team will ever win a thing with Smith as their PF.

As bad as Monroe is defensively there is always the potential for him to improve on that side of the ball, much like Zach Randolph did.

So they should just re-sign Monroe for the max or close to it, while paying Smith near max money and having no way of moving Smith for the next 2-3 years? There is not one team in the league that will trade for Smith's contract, so they'd be stuck with the same team for the next three years. That makes no sense at all. Monroe has value and they should be able to net a solid return for him. They gotta pull the trigger and get what they can for him now.

Yes, he is a shining beacon of hope, he's starting to get offense for himself too which is way a head of schedule.
