making minimum payment is a trap. I did that through school but when actually started looking at my statement and saw that the interest on my credit cards was more than my car note. I made it a point to pay it all off within a year of working

word if you read the fine print on the cards they'll tell you that it would take 443 years to pay off 25,000 at a 24% Apr if you paid the minimum payment.

I know everyone on here is 6 figures :troll: but this is for those who actually have 100k or more saved, no matter how you actually allocate it (stock market, cash, bonds, your checking account, whatever) as long as it’s mostly liquid.

Do you feel secure?? If you came from poverty does this make you comfortable now, or are you still on financial edge? Do you still carry debt?

I’m nowhere near having that saved but I’ve made it my sole goal in life. I’m just trying to see from those who have done it if the “feeling” will be there once I get there.

Was down over 125k last year in income. Have over 100k saved. Got thru comfortably and back to where I was and more from 2019.

Safety net def makes you confident.

I feel secure in the sense that I know that if something happened to me, God forbid, I'd be straight and don't ever need to necessarily work again in the traditional sense.

I came from poverty and it took a while to get rid of that feeling of being financially on edge, but once I felt like I had a truly good grasp of entrepreneurship and money in general, that dissipated and it didn't hurt that my net worth increased over time. I still carry debt but it's all smart debt at low interest rates that I could easily pay off if I chose to. Allowing me to remain liquid and put my cash to use in ways that well exceed the interest I'm paying on borrowed money. But to your question, if I lost it all, I think I've acquired the requisite skills that would allow me to make it all back in time. Once you have a thorough understanding of money and how to utilize it to your advantage, it stops becoming this scary, mythical concept.

I really think that's something that most people that are not financially comfortable fail to grasp. It's not like once you got it, you buy everything in cash. You simply have the CHOICE to finance things at a low interest rate (assuming you have a good credit score, etc.) rather than it being a necessity. All debt is not the same. If you're smart about the debt you take on, it'll allow you to use your own cash and invest in things that hopefully bring a profitable return that increase your net worth.

With that being said, all that is moot if you're not living below your means and actually putting money away and eventually investing it actively.

I dont feel secure at all. I've got about $120K between stock, crypto, savings, and mutual funds (plus 401K not included). Even tho its not reality, I still feel like i'm living paycheck to paycheck. Im just not afraid of being homeless immediately if i lost my job

Imagine looking at your bank account and only seeing 6 figures :mjlol:

As a black man in these streets, anything less than 7 figures shouldnt give you any peace of mind or security :picard:
"Still sitting on seven digits, unlike you, you broke ass nikka" :win:
