The Miami Heat and free agent guard Dion Waiters have agreed to a four-year, $52 million deal, a league source told Basketball Insiders. The deal does not contain any options, Basketball Insiders has learned.
Waiters also received interest from the Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks and Chicago Bulls.
The Lakers made a one-year, $17 million dollar offer to Waiters, a league source told Basketball Insiders. New York and Chicago verbally expressed interest, but neither team made an offer.
The 25-year-old guard shot a career-best 40 percent from beyond the arc and also recorded career highs in minutes (30.1), assists (4.3) and rebounds (3.3) per game last season. Waiters averaged 15.8 points per game last season for Miami as the starting shooting guard.
Waiters, the fourth overall pick of the 2012 draft, publicly expressed his desire to remain with the Miami Heat dating back to the regular season.
Miami still has several free agency decisions to make. James Johnson, Willie Reed, and Luke Babbitt are unrestricted free agents on the market. In addition, the team also has to make a decision whether or not to guarantee Wayne Ellington’s $6.3 million salary by July 7.
why did this injury have to happen when it did I've wanted Gay for so long bruhI'd avoid him unless you can get him on a discount or team options in at least half his contract years, he's coming off the worst type of injury for a basketball player which is the Achilles tear.
Kobe was done after his, Wesley Mathews has been a shell of his self since his and it's been 2 years now and he tore it at 28.

agreed. and yeah, he'd be a 4 in Spo's offense. like James Johnson, Luol Deng, etc. Riley might get him on a "make good" 1+1 at like 10 or 12 mill with a player's option. I liked him mostly for the heat because he's big, can score, and can get a bucket one on one. team is missing that.Double edged sword, cause if he didn't tear his Achilles he'd probably be priced out of the Heat's range. I think with that injury, he's basically now a small ball 4 and nothing else, I'd probably be trying to get Green over him.

common sense should prevail, somebody is gonna take one of them might as well be us, we have a gaping hole at SF if we plan on doing anything in the playoffs.Aren't Ainge and Riley beefing?
With that said, I hope Spo goes 5 deep on the bench, we got enough depth to do it. Even if we don't get a backup big or pg, TJ/Ellington/J Rich/Winslow/Bam looks like a solid bench.
Winslow isn't coming off the bench. Who do you have starting in his place, Mcgruder?Aren't Ainge and Riley beefing?
