True but countries like France or Germany will always be big powerhouses with their youth development. I don’t know how but Germany has always been a big powerhouse in football. Since 2002 they have managed 3rd place or better.

These Nazis ain’t nothing to fukk with :wow:

If US stepped their game up they definitely would be a big powerhouse in football just as basketball. Look at their women national team.

Can’t hate of these guy wanting to play for a powerhouse. Had they been born in Romania or Malta best believe they would be playing for their African home countries.
Germans bounced out of the euros early in the 2000's and the bundasliga(German league) and Federation worked together to come up with a plan to develop the youth etc and we see the results today

Without change, The US won't be shyt. Our system is so ass backwards. The pay to play system forces many kids not to play, cause leagues can cost the hundreds to thousands just to be register for some sub par shyt. That's why some try to get schlorships to college's but NCAA rules futher restrict the players.Imagine Messi and C.Ronaldo being held back due to the NCAA :mjlol:.

Also to my AA's here in America who say our best athletes don't play soccer. Nigeria could be 'Exhibit A' in this debate. A country with strong athletes/strong blood with no major basketball or American football influence that pulls huge numbers of talent away from soccer/football but yet still never makes it's presence felt on the big stage in the sport. I know there's corruption but damn, they haven't even discovered or even haphazardly stumbled upon a Samuel Eto or Didier Drogba type player in Nigerian the last 20 years or so? It doesn't make sense. Nigerians are some Mbaku/Black Panther types, where's the football bully's at? Somebody gotta slip through the cracks every now and then.

Nigeria got way too much foolishness in the last 20 years for anyone to focus on sports. The reason why Nigeria died in the 90s is because that was the last time Nigeria as a nation was somewhat stable. Biafra would win a world cup

the main issue with US and soccer is that soccer fundamentals are laid extremely early. there wont be a 'high school' or 'college' for a soccer kid in an academy, which is what happens in Europe. its a choice a kid has to make extremely early on, unlike football, baseball or even bball.
soccer is a young game, at age of 18/19 you already know who's a superstar. and after youre 30, most players experience a serious decline

I dont really see anything happening for us in the US until we have thee specialized academies. and there wont be a way to somehow half-ass it and keep academy and hs/college in parallel. a lot of athletes want to that fallback option, to bang hoes in hs/college even tho they will fail later as pros, and then be able to get diplomas to do something else. an academy kid playing soccer wont get to experience any of it, and if he doesnt make it to the pros...shyt can be complicated as to what he does next...

Nigeria was maybe the most disappointing performance so far. People were picking them to advance maybe to the quarters
Germany and Brazil have been more disappointing. Anyone picking Nigeria to go far is just blind optimism, most people were talking about their jerseys than the actual team.

I definitely get that but what about the percentages? Take LA for example. And I'm sort of guessing here but with the metro area of 19 million the area cranks out like probably 100 plus D1 football recruits a year from 2/3 star to 5 star athletes that feeds the Pac 12, Mountain West, and Wac conferences and maybe more. Basketball wise maybe 30-40 D1 recruits that hit top schools all the way down to small D1 programs like Long Beach St. UC San Diego, Cal State Fullerton, etc. That's just the percentages cause its a large metro area and yes the high school, AAU, football camps, etc. is a nice perfect system to feed the colleges.

That being said, Nigeria has a powerhouse alpha of a city in Lagos with 17 million in the metro area. Despite the corruption and the turmoil from time to time with that population base, and forget star players lets just say quality, wouldn't they at least come up on say at worst 5-8 youngsters who might be about that action on the pitch in 2-3 years? Just off the city of Lagos alone shouldn't they have at least lucked into a few top players every 3-4 years?

Not simply corruption, why Euro players pick their birth countries. Better faciliites, less travel, more exposure to top leagues, better advertising opporunities all factor in the equation.

Also it hasnt been mentioned, but tons of Euro-born players play for African NTs. Practically Morocco's entire team is born in Europe and same for half of Senegal's team. Between the two, three players couldve cracked the squads of their birth countries ( Benatia, Koulibaly, Ziyech, and maybe Iwobi with England). As it stands, the African NTs are more often the option for the players not good enough for their birth countires.

That's what everyone that fell for the massive marketing of those football kits also thought as well.

I expected them to not make it past round of 16 after their performance against Argentina.
