High school participation has dropped by 2.4% in just 5 years, and unlike Basketball or Baseball the NFL draws it's entire talent pool from the US. If Baseball/Basketball see drops in participation those gaps are filled globally, if Eggball sees drops...where is the talent going to come from? :jbhmm:

keep your shytty, weak kid of the field. the end
what about the other 12 HS kids who died on the field? What about the youngster who broke his neck? :jbhmm:

I dont disagree with the numbers. There is a decline in participation. What people fail to realize is the kids who are discontinuing playing football aren't even the kids colleges and the NFL draw their talent from. Most of the individuals, like the ones in @concise post, are affluent upper middle class white kids. They are absconding football for soccer and lacrosse but are typically not the type of kids you see in the rivals top 100 football rankings. High schools in the south and other hot beds for high school football recruiting talent won't be abandoning the game anytime soon. When a school like pahokee (fl), Belle glade (fl), mater dei (ca) or cardinal Mooney (oh) abandons football, I will believe the game is finished. However, citing a school with 300 kids in suburban saint louis, which is one of america's biggest soccer hot beds as is, is pushing a clear agenda. If people don't like the game, that's fine. It's a bit ridiculous to use examples that are the ultimate extreme as proof though. Either way, with football, there is far too much at stake for lower middle class and poor kids.

1. Mentions don't work if you edit them in. They have to be part of your original post.

2. lol at including a video of rare occurences. Some freak accidents of guys flipping and landing wrong or guys with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, a condition where the first symptom is often a cardiac arrest. A condition that affects ALL young athletes and one of the main causes of early retirement.
See Hank Gathers.

Meanwhile, someone is getting seriously hurt in just about every football game. Look at the injury reports, which are always understated in the first place. Listen to the pregame shows, always with guys who couldn't practice in midweek waiting on "injections" to see if they can play on Sundays.

Or just compare the average physical condition after their playing days.

the spleen incident with the high school football player was a freak accident. You had no problem dapping and referencing that story. Even if it is the case that all of these are freak accidents, the footballers still died on the pitch. How is that any different?

You're all for switching to soccer but the fact is, plenty of footballers have died on the pitch or died due to injuries related to playing. This is indisputable.

Grown men play in the nfl. They are consenting adults. If players know the risk and elect to play, what's your issue?

How many people have died in NFL games since 2007?

I'm not disputing the dangers involved with football. I played and know them first hand. The fact of the matter is, however, if you choose to play a sport, any sport, you are taking a risk. Every consenting adult or parent deserves to make a decision about whether or not that risk is worth it to them.

You did all this writing for nothing.

HCM deaths can happen and have happened to athletes in every sport.

Parents are beginning to say the risks of football are not worth it and beginning to pull their kids away from football. All they have to do is look at 96% of recent NFL player autopsies coming back with brain damage. :jbhmm:

You're right because the expectation that you would have some sort of rational answer to my points and questions is reaching.

Yes, affluent to upper middle class kids. They don't represent football's talent base at the college or NFL level though.
