Football isn't dying but I will say, youth enrollment in my area (Newark, the Oranges) is down bigtime. Those kids are playing more basketball and baseball.

Really? That's the best you can do? No articulate response? There's no denying football's participation levels are decreasing but using a high school with 300 students total, which likely equates to 150 boys as an example is extremely disingenuous. Probably why the number isnt in the original post.

But soccer is gaining more popularity every year. :jbhmm:
Attendance goes up every year, this year is about to break last year's average attendance record.

I believe the children are our future. We teach them well then let them lead the way. We are seeing the beginning of the dip in youth football participation. Every movement starts from zero, yes?

Are we seeing a dip in participation by people who could actually be good at football? AKA nobody cares that more mexicans than ever and little white kids are playing soccer.

The kid's spleen was enlarged and ruptured. Hard enough hit in any sport would have killed him. BU-BU-DA FOOTBALL BAD.

keep your shytty, weak kid of the field. the end

yeah, the spleen story is not a good example. My buddy ruptured is spleen while falling on the ball and almost died. No one knew what as wrong as it was a total non contact injury.

agreed. I came into that story thinking it would be a head injury of some kind, but it was a freak injury all around.

Aint players get evaluated by a doctor before the season start? I know Louisiana is required, and other states are different.

Since the NFL is shameless in their marketing, I'm sure they do care since they are going after every eyeball they can get at home, especially now that they're trying to push abroad (with 3 kickoffs from London at 9:30 ET this season). Kids who play football and care about football become adults who watch football and care about football - giving ratings, merchandise dollars, and ticket revenue to the league, no? :jbhmm:

High school participation has dropped by 2.4% in just 5 years, and unlike Basketball or Baseball the NFL draws it's entire talent pool from the US. If Baseball/Basketball see drops in participation those gaps are filled globally, if Eggball sees drops...where is the talent going to come from? :jbhmm:
I think we can all agree that playing real sports >>>> dying on a field
