The only way this fight will be any bit competitive will rely on Khan's conditioning. Dude is going to be running for 12 rounds. Dude can't expend a ton of energy in any couple rounds until the end.

Only chance would be to grab a few early rounds then try to protect the lead and counter Canelo's pressure.

My predictions:
a)either Canelo stuns him, then finishes in the mid-rounds.
b)Canelo just wears him out and stops him/one sided decision.

Daily Bread Mailbag: Mayweather-Garcia, Golovkin, Canelo - Boxing News

You and I have talked about quickness and speed on several occasions. Speed is the physical attribute of rapid movement, while quickness is the mental ability to perceive and then respond to a stimuli rapidly. A perfect example of that was mayweather/berto. Quickness is in the mind, speed is in the body.

Against Canelo Khan's speed will hurt him, he'll outspeed his ability to transition from offense to defense and Canelo will counter him with big shots. Khan is still a bit immature in his fighting.

Canelo learned plenty from his 12 rounds against Mayweather, and has implemented a least a few of Mayweather's moves into his style.

Bread’s Response: Yes Rob we have. You are the only person who has ever written in that knew the difference within an explanation. I just had a small debate with a young trainer a few weeks ago. When I told him how quick Bernard Hopkins is. He’s like, no he’s slow. I said I didn’t say he was fast, I said he was quick. Then I went on to explain but I don’t think he got where I was coming from. He gave me that whatever look. Oh well I tried….

Yes Andre Berto is very fast but he’s not quick. He processes things way too slow. Floyd Mayweather is not only fast but he’s ultra quick. Mayweather would be able to beat Berto at 50 years old because the mind last longer than the body.

Amir Khan has unharnessed speed. For this fight I hope he understands the difference between speed and quickness. I know his trainer Virgil Hunter does. Fighters with unharnessed speed are usually the victims of brutal kos. Khan, Ed Hopson and Jean Pascal come to mind. I actually think Khan has a better shot than most do but Canelo’s counterpunching in that Cotto fight showed me something.

Canelo is SERIOUS. That was a masterful counter punching performance against Cotto. In my opinion Cotto is a better fighter than Khan. I think Khan is easier to time because he doesn’t close his punches off like Cotto does and Cotto’s feet are better. I think Khan will do ok for a while but as the fight wears on I think Canelo’s ability to process his movements will surprise him.

Canelo is extremely talented. He can roll his head with shots. I have only seen 3 fighters who can do that. Roberto Duran, Michael Carbajal and Canelo.

He can also counter to the body just as good as he counters to the head. That’s rare. Last but not least he counters with his right hand just the same as he counters with his left. He’s one of the top 5 counterpunchers in boxing today. Khan loves to lead and initiate. It’s just his way of getting off. He’s almost going to have to make this fight boring and minimize everything in order to win. He has a tough fight ahead of him. He’s faster and slightly longer. Head to head the height looks like a wash. But Canelo is the better natural defender, puncher, counter puncher and he’s a lot quicker. Every great counter puncher has mind quickness. The attributes go hand in hand. That’s why Khan is an initiator. I think it will be entertaining and that’s good for the fans but not good for Khan.

Classic speed vs power boxing match. :blessed:

:snoop: at the moment when Khan starts fighting stupid and what we all came to see finally happens.

:mjlol: at the rare chance he pulls the upset and the potential fukkery that quickly ensues.

I'm kinda hoping for Khan-victory fukkery to be honest....:ehh:

I just don't think it's likely....:mjcry:

Still putting my coli-cash on him....:mjlol:

Speaking of Maidana...where he been at? Did those Floyd loses take his soul?

:mjlol: Take his soul? Maidana don't give a fukk about boxing breh he chilling in Argentina w his millions.

His trainer was interviewed saying Maidana didn't even know the names of the dudes he was fighting :dead: He literally had zero interest in boxing when he was an active boxer no way he gives a fukk now that he got that Mayweather payday.

Damn shame he has a gang of dope match ups at 147 at the moment too.

Juan Manuel Marquez straight says Khan has a weak jaw. :russ: No one picked Khan.

Canelo is bigger, stronger and younger and while I think Khan will give it a great effort and be more competitive than some think he might be, Canelo by knockout in the middle rounds.

While Khan is skilled enough to win the fight, his chin and aggressive nature won't let him. One counter right hand from Alvarez will bring the end.

Khan should give Canelo problems for the first half of the fight with his length, speed and legs. In the second half Canelo's pressure, size, strength and youth along with good body work should allow Canelo to come on and score a late knockout.

It's going to be a real tightrope walk for Khan to last the distance and even if he does, the decision goes to Canelo.

I could see something similar to Canelo's fight with Alfonso Gomez playing out, as Khan's speed helps him build a lead before he gets caught, hurt and taken out by the champion in the middle rounds.

Canelo wins because of the weight difference and because Khan has a weak jaw.

The matchup is bad for Khan. While Khan has great skills and lighting speed, that won't be enough. I do not see how Khan can avoid being connected by Canelo's power punches. Khan will win most of the rounds, but when the exhaustion comes, so will the KO.

Canelo is stronger, heavier and faces a smaller opponent. Canelo just need to be accurate and effective with his power punches. He should knock Khan out before the sixth round. Another result would be a huge surprise.

Some problems for Canelo at the beginning because of Khan's speed, but his adjustments, power and size will give him the key for a great knockout.

Khan will use his agility to keep Canelo at a distance, but I am not sure he will be able to keep that pace for 12 rounds. Plus he is known for having a crystal chin; I am sure Alvarez will look for that target.

Too big and strong for Khan, whose chin was suspect against junior welterweights. Don't see how he stands up to a legitimate middleweight.

Khan has speed, but he also has a history of a fragile jaw. Canelo will surely hit Khan whenever he puts pressure on. Canelo will be much stronger and bigger on fight night, and we have seen his power. I see Canelo winning by knockout in the fifth.

Alvarez has grown and learned a few lessons against Erislandy Lara and especially Floyd Mayweather in the form of facing speedy opponents who like to move around the ring. But Canelo has the power to take advantage of Khan's weak jaw.
