Here is the excerpt from his pitchfork interview in 2010. Looks like i misinterpreted it. :to:

WHere was that interview published.
Pitchfork: Have you ever met Wayne?

FL: No, not yet. I just want to get on a mixtape. Then I'll be happy. You know him? Hook it up, man! [Laughs]

Pitchfork: If I could...

FL: I appreciate it. He's another person I'd like to work with. I appreciate his work. He really is trying to do something. I don't know if I agree with what he's trying to do, but not everybody fukkin' cares about doing this music shyt. It seems like he really just cares about making tunes.

Kendrick delivered. :beli:But flying lotus ALWAYS over does it, ALWAYS. I understand you are trying to take us with you on the beat, but your are jerk around to much, you got to lead and guide us into the transition.

He could have had something with the very begining snaps and clicks, then too much drums, then too much everything else. Chill breh. I know you got talent, but It needs more honining bruh.

He needs to sit in a bunker and get all the clicks and bangs out of your system, then start arranging the sounds in a more focused manner.

:beli::manny:So far nothing of his his really captures the emotion of TEA LEAF DANCERS. He's just dull to me.

TOKYO, Taitou-Ku.
I wonder how producers feel about stuff like this. There's no way all of those beats will be on Kendrick's album, which means that he'll likely record demos on many of the tracks and they'll never see the light of day - or they'll leak in like 3-4 years.

It doesn't seem like FlyLo cares. I've been listening to his Caravan of Delight remix for the past four years, and he turned around and made it a song on Until the Quiet Comes (Phantasm).

He also took the ending instro to an adult swim track with Earl sweatshirt a few years back and let Azizi Gibson make a whole song out of it.

If you haven't heard his version of Wayne's A Milli joint, check it out. Pretty trippy way back when.

Great idea.:blessed:

:childplease: this nikka been dropping constant heat for 10 years, he is transcending that little box you're putting him in and succeeding at it unlike most producers that won't be caught dead experimenting...so you telling me these aint capture the same emotions of tea leaf dancers (which i agree is one of his top songs)?

:why:How am I putting him in a box when all I'm saying is, his direction is unfocused? I can see and understand he makes music with some kind of concept in mind, but I think he is overwhelming his sounds with concepts. He is trying to show off his wonkey, off kilter style, throwing in sound effects as a nod to electronica, or even djing; and on top of all that, he's throwing in full jazz arrangements;
:mindblown:There was like 12 transitions in this damn kendrick song alone

:childplease:I'm hearing it like dude, you are all over the place. I understand youre influeced by all these musical styles and youre are related to a jazz musican. :childplease:But You are doin too much on the damn boards

Experimentation is Fine, :camby:but do that shyt on your own time or channel it into special projects, or do it a the Low end theory. To hear it as a finished product, it really does nothing for me.

I guess you know something Kendrick Lamar doesn't.
