This is simply not true. Most of the slaves came from modern day Angola, Congo and Nigeria. In, Ghana (Gold Coast) and Benin (Dahomey) most of the slaves went to Jamaica and Haiti. A majority of slaves went to the Portuguese colony of Brazil. Meaning they had to be shipped from places on the continent of Africa where the Portuguese had under control....ie. Kingdom of Kongo (Angola, Congos), Biafra (Igboland), Lagos (Yorubaland), Porto Novo (Benin), etc.

The first slaves were sourced from Angola. But Angolans have a very tough personality and refused to do slave work no matter the consequences. The Arab and European traders then went up the coast to West African, where they discovered the people were more docile.

I'm African, and don't find anything wrong with what Floyd Mayweather stated.

I have a problem with the narrative Anti-African Black people are trying to create by using his comments. Look at the thread title, it was designed to ignite an African vs African-American debate.

My advice to Floyd Mayweather would be to do what Akon is doing with lighting Africa project and get involved in a FOR PROFIT business in Africa. Where your helping and making $$$$$ at the same time. If he wants to become a billionaire investing in Africa is a good move for him.

Where is your evidence that Arabs ever went to the coastal part of West Africa? Arabs were NEVER apart of the Antlantic Slave trade. They were only apart of the Indian Ocean slave trade which involved coastal Muslim East Africans selling non Muslim East Africans to do.
