Mayweather: My Focus is Pacquiao, Not Amir Khan
Posted by: Carlos Boogs on 12/16/2014

By Carlos Boogs

Mirage Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas - Floyd Mayweather Jr. (47-0, 26KOs) briefly spoke to reporters at the WBC's annual convention, stating that his focus is a mega-match with Manny Pacquiao on May 2nd.

Mayweather was questioned about the possibility of facing British star Amir Khan (30-3, 19KOs), who dominated Devon Alexander this past Saturday, and the pound-for-pound king didn't appear too interested in the matchup.

"Khan should make a name for himself. Right now nobody knows who Amir Khan is, only boxing people. I think he should wait a bit [and make a bigger name for himself]. My focus right now is Pacquiao and I want that fight," Mayweather said. "Basically the first time we didn't do the fight because of drug testing, the second he turned down $40 million and now I don't know, another excuse [will come from] Bob Arum, but hopefully [it happens]."

:mjlol:

#KhansArmy might have to storm The Mayweather Boxing Club:dead:

Khan thought he was REALLY gonna have a chance to fight Floyd Mayweather after looking that good against Devon Alexander?:sas1:

Nah, breh...if Floyd doesnt get Pacquiao, he's gonna just retire, because I definitely dont think he will fight Keith Thurman either:yeshrug:

Maybe he can convince Danny Garcia to finally move up and take the fight at 147:ohhh:

I dont think ANYONE wants to see Floyd vs Khan over Floyd vs Pacquiao, (please give us Floyd vs Pacquiao :mjcry:), but for Floyd to basically say that Khan is no longer an option is hilarious, because we all knew that would happen if he looked too good against Alexander:heh:

FLOYD MAYWEATHER RESPONDS TO MANNY PACQUIAO: "IT'S NOT CALLED SLUGGING...HE MUST KNOW THAT HE'S NOT GOING TO WIN"
By Ben Thompson | December 16, 2014

BT: Hey Floyd, I know you don't have much time, but I was calling real quick to see if you heard that Pacquiao responded to your comments from Friday.

FM: What did he say?

BT: Well, he started off saying that you reached a dead end and had nowhere to run and...

FM: [Cutting in] If I'm not mistaken, I think me and Baldomir did better numbers than him and the undefeated fighter Algieri.

BT: Damn. Well he continued, saying that your fights are boring and he wants to make it an entertaining fight, but he doubts you will engage him in a slugfest.

FM: It's so crazy that once he sees that I said I do want the fight to happen and let's make the fight happen, now he wants to say that Mayweather won't stand there and slug with me. Last time I checked, it's not called slugging; it's called boxing. I mean, that's what happend in the Marquez fight. You was trying to play tough guy and we see what happened. It's about working smarter, not harder. When he was fighting Brandon Rios, he wasn't slugging. He was boxing. It's obvious he must know that he's not going to win. He feels that in his heart. Like every other fighter trying to bait me into slugging, that's not going to happen. Even though I know I'm bigger and I'm stronger than him, and I'm smarter than him, we don't believe in taking no punishment. The cool thing about Floyd Mayweather's career is I was able to dish out punishment, not take punishment, make a lot of money, and have all my faculties. That's the cool thing about my career. What's so crazy is they're always talking about Floyd Mayweather fights are boring. I mean, it's an art and last time I checked, I'm an artist and I paint a beautiful picture. A bloody mouth, a bloody nose, cut lip, broken ribs; that's not beautiful on me.

BT: Then he closed it out by saying you can get whatever amount of money that you want because for him, this fight is about making the fans happy and for the good of the sport, so he'd fight you for free.

FM: Listen, I'm truly, truly blessed to be where I'm at and I'm very thankful for the fans. He's talking about the fans this and the fans that. It's obvious the fans must love me more because the pay-per-view numbers are showing who's getting the most love. I mean, of course I'm only human, so every day I come out of my house, I don't always want to take pictures, but I do appreciate the fans because without the fans, we wouldn't be where we're at today. I don't like when people say stuff like, "I'm doing it just for the fans." No, you're doing it for yourself. If you're doing it just for the fans, then you can give the money back to the fans if that was the case. You want to please the fans, but you're not just doing it for the fans. You're doing it for yourself also. I mean, if he wanna fight for free, he can. I'm not fighting for free. Once again, I'm a prize fighter. I fight for a prize, and I'm the A side so I'm always going to get the biggest prize. The thing is this, we need proof of payment. I want to see a copy of his last check.

I think this time around Floyd really wants this fight.. I worry on his demands though.

But on the flip side I worry on arum too.. He seems not to want to make the fight on May, a day Floyd wants to stick with.. He doesn't want to lose the cotto money that will generate that day maybe?.. That day would maximize the money for cotto and canelo.. The Floyd and PAC fight would generate the same money any day.

That's exactly what I think too:obama:

Manny Pacquiao's comments on Floyd Mayweather as of December 16th, 2014:

“He has reached a dead end. He has nowhere to run but to fight me. I will try my best to make this a thrilling and entertaining fight. But I doubt if he’s gonna engage me in a slugfest. You all know his fighting style. Most of his previous fights, if not all, induced us to sleep. I know what I have to do. I will chase him wherever he goes just in case he decides to run around the ring,” said Pacquiao.

“We will devise a good fight plan against him. Mayweather can get the amount he wants. As early as January this year, I challenged him to a charity fight. Until now, he has not agreed to it. So money is not the issue in our fight. This fight is about legacy; this is about making the fans happy and, above all, this is for the good of boxing.”

This thread is a disgrace to this forum. I will no longer post here because the more I read in here the more respect I lose for a Lotta posters in here. Like don't tell me you're that stupid not to see that Pac is lying and making things up as usual saying he wants the fight. He still hasn't said anything about the Showtime offer but since we all hate Floyd for his personna, let's blindly believe and root for Pacquiao.

Now for my statement I'm labeled a Floyd Stan but you will not be labeled a Pac stan at all. You're just a boxing fan.

Also scust @Newzz and @krackdagawd for trolling Floyds stans and supporting Pac stans in here

I'm done here

Your 4th of July idea is amazing really. Then he could still have his 4 month layoff and fight his 49th on Veterans day weekend

Mayweather coming out in the Apollo Creed fit from Rocky 4.:wow:

...just gotta hope the fight doesnt end the same way :damn:

:heh:

But yeah, he (if ANYONE), could've pulled it off but instead....he wanted to take over Cinco De Mayo. I mean it was a great business decision, but he could've started his OWN tradition:wow:
