FLOYD made Cinco De Mayo and Mexican Independence Day Weekends special in Boxing?????:dahell::what::dwillhuh:

:mjlol:

Since '07 (like I said), yes. That's been his weekend and everybody knows it. Now you got dudes talking about "trying to take it back." :hulkmad:

Not that I'm knocking Canelo for working the weekend. I just think it's hilarious that anybody thinks FLOYD MAYWEATHER needs to rearrange his schedule for moral reasons when that's been his date forever. And Bob even bringing that up as a reason to not make Pac/May if its on the table.

from the home of coca-cola, i'm not referring to s
Mosley was bad, off a loss to FMJ
De La Hoya, 147, after losing to Floyd.
Rios :scust:
Algieri :scust:
Hatton, after Floyd took his 0.

Pac doesn't fight people at their peak, be it because of Roach or Arum, he just doesn't.

Bradley was his first legitimate fight in sometime, winning against an opponent who was looking impressive prior to fighting him.
How was coming from 134 to fight Oscar at 147 a bad matchup because he lost to Floyd??

How was Pac fighting Shane a bad matchup because Shane loss to Floyd??

Niether Shane or Oscar were prime when Floyd fought them.

How was Pac fighting Hatton a bad matchup because he had 1 loss vs Floyd?

Rios was a tune-up fight..

Algieri, Cotto, Clottey, Bradley weren't at their peak?? :mjpls:

How was coming from 134 to fight Oscar at 147 a bad matchup because he lost to Floyd??

The same reason Pac asking Cotto for a catchweight was ridiculous. He had been coming in the ring at 147, since his days at 135. :mjpls:

pac.png

Remind you, Floyd came in at 149 on fight night against DLH at 154. So whats that? 2 pounds between them on fight night even though they were fighting 3 divisions apart? :mjpls:

For comparison
mula.png

Floyd was 138 fighting at 135, which means had him and Pac met at 135, Pac would have been the bigger man by 9 pounds :mjpls:

And WW PBF is the same size as a 135 PAC. Which is why its laughable to make it seem like Pac is so small, when in reality he was a WW fighting at 135.
How was Pac fighting Shane a bad matchup because Shane loss to Floyd??

Because Floyd fought him when no one else wanted to. When Roach was saying Mosley was "too good" and if they did fight it would have to be at 142 :mjpls: http://articles.latimes.com/2010/feb/02/sports/la-sp-dwyre-pacquiao2-2010feb02

Shane came to the gym twice to ask me to let him fight Manny," Roach says. "I told him no both times, and both times for the same two reasons: First, there isn't enough money there, and second, you're too good a fighter."

Niether Shane or Oscar were prime when Floyd fought them.

Neither were prime, but both were coming off solid wins. Add to the fact that Shane was coming off from all but decapitating Margarito.

Oscar also said he wasn't expecting Pacquiao to be so big or fast :mjpls: And said he was drinking throughout the camp for the Pac fight, which is probably why he looked like this.

He thought he was going in against a smaller man, but was actually the smaller man on fight night

:mjpls:

Pac was never a true 135, so when he came to WW, he was already a WW and all he did was cut less. There was no "moving up in weight" he was already coming in at 147, and DLH was stupid.
How was Pac fighting Hatton a bad matchup because he had 1 loss vs Floyd?

Because Hatton himself said he wasnt the same :mjpls:

Hatton said:
“It was a crushing knockout defeat. Any knockout is tough to come back from. I know when I got knocked out by Floyd Mayweather, anytime Juan Lazcano hit me, I felt like he was going to knock me out. I turned to drugs because I felt like I had worked so hard just to fail. I was never the same after the fight with Mayweather

Algieri, Cotto, Clottey, Bradley weren't at their peak?? :mjpls:

Cotto was just off the bricks with Concreto. Algieri SQUEAKED out a win vs Provo. Which I scored for him, but it wasn't impressive. Clottey :heh:

Bradley was at his peak though :win:

Explain to me why Floyd deserves to fight on Cinco de Mayo over the top Mexican draw? no dikk riding please.
Because floyd is the top draw PERIOD
the biggest boxer in the sport should be able to fight on any day he wants

floyd been fighting on mexican holidays back when canelo was fighting miguel cotto's brother
no one had a problem with it before
no one was saying marquez should fight on that date instead
like i said, i have no problem with canelo fighting for the date
its within his right
its just funny how certain peolpe are all of a sudden so appalled about floyd fighting fighting on these dates
people always tryin to change the rules when it comes to floyd
mexicans from all over the place came to vegas to watch Floyd fight Shane mosley
so clearly its not just about fighting a mexican
mexicans love watching mayweather fights and a lot of them are his fans

i've been in that environment and seen it for myself
canelo can wait a year
or he won;t, we shall see

:mjlol: at thinking Mexicans will watch Floyd fight Khan over Canelo/Cotto.....I hope they do go head to head :banderas:

I need an explanation as well

"bbbbut Floyd is the biggest draw in boxing blah blah blah" then he should be good on any day he doesn't need a Mexican holiday to selll ppv :sas1:

Cinco De Mayo Weekend is the biggest date in boxing to fight on followed by Mexican Independence Day Weekend. It been that way before Floyd and will always remain that way.

JCC Sr fought Frankie Randall on Cinco de Mayo weekend, Diego Corrales fought Jose Luis Castillo on Cinco de Mayo weekend, and Oscar De La Hoya made it the special date in boxing it is today....not Floyd.

whats exactly your point?
we all know de la hoya (on cinco de mayo) made floyd mayweather mainstream and made that date what it is
but also we all know floyd been running with that weekend since and has done record numbers during those weekends and has a mexican fanbase of his own
canelo will take over when mayweather is gone
he is trying to take over before floyd leaves, which is fine
but theres nothing wrong with floyd wanting to fight on that day

My point was in response to the post claiming Floyd made Cinco De Mayo Weekend the 'special" date it is today since 2007...and it's not true.

The date was always special and always will be.
