This past Saturday night, Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (44-1-1, 31KOs) was in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato to support his older brother, Ramon Alvarez, who scored a knockout victory over former champion "Vicious" Vivian Harris.
There have been several reports in the United States that influential manager Al Haymon is making moves to secure WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto for a rematch with Floyd Mayweather Jr. for May of next year, and in turn it would crush any immediate plans for a Canelo-Cotto showdown.
Canelo's handlers, Chepo and Eddy Reynoso, are not worried about these rumors. They are confident that Canelo's promoter, Golden Boy Promotions, will reach a deal for a fight with Cotto.
The Mexican superstar's handlers revealed that "negotiations are well advanced for the fight with Cotto" for May 2.
If the rumors are accurate, that Haymon is trying to get Cotto, then it would indicate that Mayweather has little interest in facing career rival Manny Pacquiao next.

Canelo is tailor made for Pacman, questionable footwork, difficulty getting foot placement against southpaws (see the Trout fight), questionable defense.
Pacman would feast breh, he'd be turning him all night. There is a reason Roach was likewhen they mentioned Canelo, they would beat him a lot worse than Floyd did.
It would look like the Margarito fight all over again.
Canelo has more of a puncher's chance though. That ginger throws some mean combos.

I've said a long time ago. These 2 will fight when they are ready to retire. They will retire facing each other. In the meantime, Arum has created a game plan for Manny where he will beat up featherfisted undefeated fighters while Floyd will face whoever Uncle Al wants him to face.

Deep down in my soul....even if I remove everything that has happened in the past, I feel like Floyd doesnt want this fight. 
The silence is bothersome, almost like he is hiding to wait out the storm. Hopefully im wrong though.
I dont know why but it just has this feeling that he seems to mention every excuse not to fight him. Pacquiao is the only guy he seems to always make fun of but he wont fight him, the whack jokes, the memes etc. Just fight the dude, make the 100m if its such an easy win, rematch, dictate all the terms and cash out.
