Mayweather To Pacquiao: You Agreed? You Have No Say!
Posted by: Edward Chaykovsky on 1/20/2015

WBC/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. spoke out publicly for the first time on the ongoing negotiations to make a mega-fight with WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao on May 2nd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Pacquiao recently stated, in several interviews, that he agreed to all of the terms - on his side of the negotiations. Bob Arum of Top Rank, who promotes Pacquiao, says his company is also satisfied with the terms.

Based on Mayweather's comments, the fight is not as close as everyone seems to be writing.

"Hopefully its Mayweather-Pacquiao [on May 2nd]. Of course we are trying to make the fight happen between me and Pacquiao. Are we negotiating? Absolutely we are negotiating. But Pacquiao said that he agreed to everything. What did you agree to? You have no say so. You have a boss. You don't have no say so. You have a boss.....that's called Top Rank Promotions. It's not called Pacquiao Promotions. With my company, it's called Mayweather Promotions," Mayweather stated during an interview with Shade 45 Radio.

"We have been going back and forth, communicating with their team. Hopefully we can make this fight happen. Once again, we have to look at his pay-per-view numbers. His last fight didn't even do 300,000 homes. Figures make sense. He did get knocked out not too long ago. No matter what you say, Floyd Mayweather still winning. When they take shots at Floyd Mayweather, he still winning and making hundreds of millions.

"We're going to make it happen though. We're trying, but it's been extremely difficult dealing with Top Rank. And I don't want to sit here and point the finger at Pacquiao and say 'it's him.' It's not Pacquiao, it's his promoter. A lot of times when Pacquiao says 'I agreed' - you don't have nothing to do with this, you're not a boss. On a chess board you're a pawn."

This nikka Mayweather just be going in on Pacquiao everytime:mjlol:

But, on another note...what I took from that is this: Floyd said "we have to look at his pay-per-view number. His last didnt even do 300,000 homes. Figures make sense." meaning to ME that thay ARE being held up in negotiations over the split that @LeVraiPapi was talking about in his post on page 47 from his insider (Arum wants a bigger ppv split and using HBO to basically "do his dirty work").

Floyd ALSO said "I dont want to sit here and point the finger at Pacquiao and say 'it's him,' It's not Pacquiao, it's his promoter." meaning to ME that the info that, again, @LeVraiPapi posted on page 47 is correct, because that's what his insider told him and sounds like what Floyd is going off about.......Arum is holding up the fight.:banderas:

@LeVraiPapi got a legit source:leon:

we was talking about the hbo and showtime meetings last night

oh yeah ? How about Haymon ?

Haymon is a manager/adviser, not a promoter. Besides, we're yet to hear even one fighter complain about what Haymon has done on their behalf. That tells me Haymon is a good dude. Complain about last year all you want, but nobody complained about him much in the years prior. Not to mention, his handling of the first quarter of 2015 is looking good. If that's any indication of things to come, God bless Al Haymon.

pacquaio saying he agrees to everything like his opinion matters:mjlol:
like i said in the past, if there was no bob arum, this fight gets made YEARS ago
hopefully they figure this shyt out

Perfect timing for Floyd to reveal his demands then :sas2:

The more transparent he is, the worse it looks for Arum. Besides, if he ain't massively lowballing Pac, the boxing world will fukk with him.

LOL.. you haven't heard anyone complain because there is a clause in his fighters contracts where they can be terminated if they say anything negative about him on any media outlet

Wouldn't you want the contract to be terminated if you had issues with Haymon :dahell:

Put Haymon on blast N be free...if only it was that easy to get rid of Bob:mjlol:

I can't find the article right now, but Keith Thurman immediately comes to mind as one who was complaining about fighting Bundu instead of someone else more high profile. That said, far too many fighters praise Al Haymon and are pleased at what he's done on their behalf. It's been jokingly said that after a fighter wins and is interviewed in the ring, he'll usually thank God and Al Haymon, and not always necessarily in that order.

Brolic... Alcoholics

He better, I think floyd is gonna agree and go full Gatti on him.

Floyd held back vs Canelo didn't want to ruin Canelo's brand he won't have no problems trying to end Manny's rep.

I don't have a dog in the fight. I've always said the fight could go 7-5 either way. You'd be a fool of you didn't think Manny wouldn't bring his A game. Just like anyone would be stupid to think Floyd wouldn't be on the top of his game.

If Floyd Outclasses him, he will go for the Kill.

He could have stopped Shane and Canelo. He chose not too, I don't remember much from the Cotto fight.

He didn't put much effort in the Maidana fights.
