One difference between Trump and previous presidents is that he gets the media to amplify all these incidents.
Joe Biden in 2024 deported more people than any Trump year in the 1st term but he didn't keep doing press conferences and meetings constantly talking about how much he deports people.
It's all about creating perception.

We've seen that demonstrated this week in many ways, and we see it in this case.
After the first 2 hit attempts, after the election, and after inauguration, there were likely thousands of social media posts saying what the guy in WPB said. But it's his Black ass that gets arrested, local police press conference, and makes national story on cable news.

MAGAs , and the insurrectionists were (probably) making thousands of calls weekly for the same thing to happen to Biden. A few, or a few dozen arrests of those making threats probably speaks to law enforcement seeing pattern and or intent to follow up on case by case basis.
Vast majority were not arrested or investigated.

I brought MAGAs up because there was precedent of them using violence on Jan 6th. So threshold for them to be arrested for threats ideally would have been lower. A handful of arrests in 4 years, though...and likely hundreds of thousands of threats by people using their real names.
