Very stupid decision by the cop to knock on the door initially and not identify himself and hide from view.
When Roger looked and saw nobody there and then hears a louder knock, I'm sure he's put on edge and gets his gun to see what's going on. Even on the later knocks, the cop is hiding from view. I don't understand why he would think that is a good idea.

I read some shyt in the comments saying police are trained to stand to the side of the door on domestic calls like that in case a suspect tries to shoot through the door. sounds like bs to me
