It’s the opposite. Those artists need to stop running to major labels. They’re all scrambling because their old model of loaning artists millions of dollars and keeping all of the profits under the guise of having to recoup doesn’t work anymore because of no physical sales and lack of touring.
You can put your music out and make high quality videos for way less than a label budget. You can also eat off socials with engagement.
Drill fan bases engage online and stream like crazy; most of them came up organically anyway so why give away your streaming and tour money to a label? Get good management, dope merch, do small venues and eat.
